Auto-X cancelled?
Got this Email today:
Hello,
Regretfully we must cancel the AutoX for the Zoom-Fest event. We thought long and hard about this but have concluded it must be canceled. The lack of entries is the culprit. There were only 5 that signed up for the AutoX for this year.
The $50 Payment for the AutoX has been refunded to the same account used for the original payment.
There are entries left for the SCCA PDX if you would like to sign up for that. www.atlantascca.org
Zoom-Fest '09 as a whole is looking better and better each day we get closer. All other activities and benefits are not effected by this cancellation.
Thank you,
Zoom-Fest '09
How many were needed for the Auto-X sign up to be ran? I had a few more people interested in going (who have not signed up until literally 5 minutes ago) who were planning to X it up.
Just curious. I used the auto x refund to spot a friend I convinced to go with us
Keep up the good work ZF09!

Yep, very low sign up for the autoX. I was shocked.
As far as how many needed, that was a judgment call. We could have had it with 5 cars signed up but there were some issues with that.
The SCCA would have lost a huge amount of money. They were OK with that but we chose not to burn the bridge this year. Track rental was 1K on top of that. That money would have pulled away from the other guest enjoyment of the event.
Simply comes down to the majority spoke and they did not want to AutoX. Would not have been prudent to spend that much money on the the AutoX rather the the rest of the event.
There is always next year since we did not burn the bridge.
