settings for stock CAS

Do the settings for using stock CAS (24 teeth, which is the way I have mine) need to be different than using a modified CAS (4 teeth or whatever). I loaded a nyt map to get me started (thanks nyt) and am having difficulty getting it started. I am also using an FD ignitor (wired like nyt) with 4 trailing coils (2 in place of the leading)

I got spark and fuel and all the LEDs flash when cranking, but I think I have a timing issue. The timing light seems to flash a bit irregularly (i realize its on L and is waste spark, but it still seems wierd)

I need to improve some grounds tomorrow, I'm getting about 11volts while cranking and I'd like to see better, but I'm not sure thats my real problem now.

thanks
Mike

Thumbs up

If you search through the treads here you will find the setup for a standard CAS. By default the Wolf selects a modified CAS sequence (well mine did). Many of us started with one of nyt's maps. You sould read every post in this forum from nyt as much robust debate and may issues have been resovled in his treads. Also did you see the little note on initial firing of a wolf injection? I found that after it ran the first time it always started good. I would suggest 2 batterries connected to initially fire your car. I think the wolf needs a high cranking speed and no air in the injector rails to fire up quickly. Maybe it is a function to allow oil pressure to build before firing but I do know it is real. Many others may have seen this too. Who knows, well not me but I found 2 batteries and off it goes (once you have the right data for the CAS)

yeah there are threads in here for a wolf with a stock cas. also you might want to use a leading dual post coil instead of 2 trailings for your leading. when you split the igniter outputs to 2 coils, they only get half the current.

i think the stock trigger ref/sync offset is 4 as someone posted? but im not sure. people have reported it working with different values. it just depends how the CAS is stabbed. on fd since theres no CAS stabbing, its however many 'teeth' are between the sync pulse and 0 degrees? not 100% sure on that.

also 11 volts on cranking is fine.

also heres an s5 base map that someone posted.. i cant see all the settings for the CAS cuz they only come available when its hooked up to an ecu.. id check sometime but its almost 2 in the morning and i dont feel like dragging a laptop to my car.

i would not recommend running this map in the wolf as its pretty terrible... but it _should_ have the proper cas settings in the config section.

its too bad you cannot view those options when the wolf is not hooked up. to be honest, im not sure if the map will even save those values as they may be strictly in the wolf. who knows. just figured id post it in case.
