second gen coils are fine, you just need to go to an fd igniter because it has 3 channels instead of 2 channels with a toggle

Just the coils? Or the ignitor and the coils? I have a sparkbox at work i can hook up to any coil. Havent had luck tricking the ignitor into firing the coils yet

for some reason I thought it was just the 2nd gen leading that did not work.

can you use four 2nd gen trailing coils w/ ignitors?

ok....the coils are the packs suppling the charge....that is, they are like big capacitors to supply electic current to the spark plugs. they are located ON the engine, under the intake manifold below the elbow.....

the ignitor is the trigger....that is the switch to make the coils fire. its imput is directly from the ecu.it is located on the inner panel usually driver side on the US fd. its a small silver box like some 3"x3"x1/2" with a heat sink. using to laterally opposed bolts 6mm to attach on the horizontal plane. a condensor is also bolted on with a black wire running out of it....

ok?
