i really have no experience with the Wolf EMS', i let Chris take care of those but since he's gone i expect i will have to figure out that EMS as well. never have had any issues learning new engine management but it generally takes a good full day to get to know things and get a decent base tune setup for the first time.

i'm pretty booked up at the moment so if you can find anyone else who has experience with wolf already and are in somewhat of a hurry to get it set up i would suggest going that route.

I think you just need to know how to tune Wolfs and Rotary engines. As I said before ALWAYS ALWAYS tune from rich too lean and don't be in a hurry. I think Wolf could do a better job with support, and much of my experience has been because I have had to fix my own problems. I am NO crack tuner I just have a go at it thats all. You will always make good power even if it is a little richer but by the time the power drops off because you are lean your motor usually dies spitting out seals. Now one way to reduce this is too not run excessive timing and you give yourself a MUCH larger safety margin.(we all make mistakes) Don't be scared to run only 5 degrees advance or less while tuning fuel. Don't run more than 13 degrees at full load you won't pickup much more power with more advance. Part load is different. Now you should have Target AFRS for each boost/load level stay on the rich side you won't give away much power and your motor will live longer. Once you have the fuel sorted work on timing carefully.
If you have a boost controller you can use it to help tune your engine buy stepping up the boost slowly.

Cheers

oh, i didn't mean i don't know how to tune, i just have never screwed with Wolf EMS before and i have looked at their software and saw Chris dealing with some issues while doing some tuning as well. issues i rarely see dealing with other EMS systems but Wolf seems to be getting things together, they just implemented buggy software and still have some hardware issues to sort out.

Yes the original software was not good or should I say unstable. The V4 ecu are good but the Technical support just isn't there for everyday users. Thats why I share what I have found like all the others here. The New finished software is much better but I still use the original V4 software. The Wolf has lots of little options to adjust but little real info on what each setting actually does. I guess being from a technical background I like a suitable technical explanation of how it works, maybe I am too fussy?? Idle control is one of those where setting can cause all types of strange problems. I wrote a little thread on getting caught with idle control. We could all do without those problems. This is the primary reason behind offering maps it not just the fueling it is all those little settings that are already close enough to be functional.

I haven't seen any V500s yet and there is very little data on them but they look well Over Flexible. There should be a dummy/expert modes to speed tuning or better base maps.

Karack if you have a strange problem with a Wolf drop me a line maybe one of us has delt with it before.

Cheers

I am going w/ a V500, or was planning too. Looks like Chris isn't going to be my tuner/installer anymore. But I think my friend and I can handle it. I have all the time int eh world, plus I'm going to have it N/A first. Wasn't planning on trusting the Rtek on stock harness w/ my new motor and a turbo :P
