Oh I don't own an RX-7 it was more a general statement than anything. I could drive around in a classic muscle car with dual exhaust and glasspacks downtown and only turn the right kind of heads. Just riding around in my friends subaru or any import for that matter with 'modified exhaust' on the other hand gets all sorts of cop attention. Up here if your car qualifies to have a classic plate on it, it also doesn't have to pass any sort of emissions because it's obviously x amount of years old and therefore they usually don't harass anybody who's driving a really old car be a a Hudson, Camaro, Datsun, etc. Just my experience though.

I got pulled over downtown the first day after buying a 79 BMW 323i that was imported from Germany that had an old, but obviously modifed exhaust, (The mufflers were beginning to rust out as well) and the first thing the cop said when he came up to the window was "Nice classic BMW! I love the orange!".

I'm putting an RX-7 powerplant in a 74 Fiat Coupe just in case you were still wondering.

 

I'd rather live in a state that isn't becoming more and more famous for crushing cars either!

Most of the cars that get crushed are usually a bunch of beaters, rice burners, or cars owned by total airheads. It's all just a bunch of hype designed to scare automotive enthusiasts, and we have plenty of suckers here that get scared.

yeah no ****, all their cars rust out to nothing. I lived in WA for years, so I know what i am talking about. At least CA cars last long enough we have to crush them and send them back home to come out as new ones.
