Yeah. A job offer to return to gov't service that may very well be too good to turn down. Especially considering the economic way of the world these days. Just waiting on their response to my counter on a few key points.
Right now I'm in fact finding mode. Thus the inquiry thread in the South RX7 forum.

"I guess Hozzman is coming out of the closet finally? You know what they say, only steers and queers come out of Texas and Hozzman doesnt look like a steer to me "
So when you went to texas, you bought your FD from a Steer?
"Kan ah have ur stuff?"
"Dibs on the s4 turbo vert"
Ah gosh guys. I'm touched.
The job offer came from the FDIC, not the EPA. So you can all relax now knowing I haven't been an EPA spy all this time.

I have to admit having had emigrate-to-Texas thoughts of late; I have this horrid feeling that CA is going to become financially & politically unsustainable soon. & I can't drive to Australia. The company has a sizeable office there, & I could maybe wangle a transfer.
Main things holding me back:
Gulf diving generally sucks, as does Gulf-coast weather. The rest of Texas is notably not divable.
No mountains. Did the "flat" thing growing up in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri.
Selling a house in this market.
No Korean food markets to speak of. Gots to keep the missus happeh.

I've never lived anywhere else but the west coast. So Texas will indeed be a bit of an adjustment. But the interesting part of this gig is I could get extended detailed anywhere. So don't think you've totally gotten rid of me yet.

Hey you are leaving us?
I am from Dallas, though I have not lived there since 1991. Most of my family resides there.
There was a great white flight where most of the white people from Dallas proper and its surrounding suburbs all moved to Plano and north of there. Not sure why.
I grew up in East Dallas, back then areas around White Rock lake and Lakewood were nice. I also know the Turtle Creek area was also nice. Highland Park is the old rich part, unlike Highland park of LA, lol.
I would say if you want decent space with a garage and what not check out the burbs east of Dallas. I used to go to highschool downtown from that White Rock Lake/ Casa Linda area and it took about 15/20 minutes.
Bring a map on Sunday and I'll highlight some areas for you I have seen in this decade even.
