Did you know you have the right to tell him no until he gets a warrant, BUT he can legally tow your car until he obtains one? Kinda a bad way to fk up your day if you have nothing to worry about since it's stock.

 

Brismo7: A cop can pop your hood if he has reasonable doubt that the car is modified. He does not need a warrant. If you don't comply they can impound the car and look at it later, or take your *** to jail and look at it while you are in the slammer. The cops are just enforcing the law, they don't make the rules.

It's all about the image you present. What was the original reason he pulled you over for? What gave him the "reasonable doubt" that your car was modified? If this continues to be a problem, get a different car or get a license plate from a different state.

This is true, cops no longer need warrants to ask you to pop your hood. If you have modified exhaust, or a FMIC showing, etc. They can ask you to pop your hood and write you up. My friend has a turbo'd focus thats stock like a **** all around quiet but is turbo'd even with a fish net grill on the front covering the FMIC, a cop still noticed it, pulled him over and wrote him up for the turbo setup. ****'s pretty fucked up now a days. You also have to go to very special referee's as well.

and the original reason he pulled me was because I had the back seats down and there was no passenger seat, so he thought my car was a race car or some sort, and my registration was oct 2008........ but i still has a month...but yea he told me to go get that right away too

Ya. I've noticed the CAMPUS POLICE! coming out in full force lately.......i just got a parking warning from one of them today for parking in a parking spot *** backwards in the parking structure off of palos verdes (and for having my VIN plate "obscured")

Then again, even with a really modified car, i don't see why one would get so many tickets unless you were driving in a lame way. I got tickets because of my own shitty driving.

But, i have never had a car get me in trouble...and most of the modifications people run on their cars can be CARB legal parts.....hell there are carb legal parts even for GTRs, there def. should be for Rx8s and Rx7s and even 240SXs.
