Would you Trade your 3rd gen for a Skyline GTS-T
i've got the op to trade my 93 single turbo for a Skyline GTS-T. 96 single turbo. Looks Great. Only bad side. It won't be able to be registered.
These things being so hard to get legal Im debating whether or not to get it and keep it a track car or not get it and enjoy the fruits of my past labor.. what you think.

It's not worth the trade, as i'm sure that your FD is a clean good running car that can be enjoyed on the street. Where as the GTS will be an overpayed track only toy.
Getting it legalized is not possible, only the R34's can be legalized now due to motorx screwing everyone over... There was an article about it in a magazine a while back that is also available online. Basically started selling off non-legalized cars and DMV found out and they went and seized all the non-legal skylines from their owners leaving their owners carless and $60k short...As well as shutdown motorx and since then there have not been any skylines imported and legalized for the street, which was a few years ago.
Isn't worth the trouble in my opinion, the FD would be more fun.
As well as like I said you can pick up a track only skyline for under $10k and strip it down to a full race car and not have to give up the FD. It's what I would do if I wanted a track only Skyline.
Just my opinion on it anyways

not true^^ you can still get these legalized, I saw one a few months ago, someone who got one fully legalized the long way in FL it was an r32 so you can still do it I might be able to get you in touch with the guy who did it but to be honest I don't think it's worth the trade keep the single turbo it's gonna be more fun than a GTS-T, it's only rear wheel drive not even GTR spec

For a car you would have to worry about theft from ricers? no way man!!! I love my nissan, im a former 240sx guy who built one up, and i got out of them because you have to worry about that type of stuff, cant take them out without worry about theft or police attention now a days.
GTR would be more respectable, but still soo many legal issues right now and the Feds confiscating alot of them, too risky. Maybe thats why the guy wants to get rid of it.
Why have a skyline if you cant register and enjoy it on the street? I could understand track only , but theres probably a few other potential cars out there that rate better then a GTS-T.
I dont think its worth the potential legal issues man, esp if someone happens to steal it.

Don't do it,
Are you talking about the one on craigslist for $16,000 or trade for FD?
I saw the pics its nice and well modded but i think the FD is better if you want a track car.

Isn't this company still importing them? http://www.righthanddrivejapan.com/
And heck no I wouldn't trade an FD for any car! Especially if you've got a single turbo setup in it.

It looks like they are still importing the classic models which im guessing is OK to do but they don't have anything newer than the 1970's models as far as skylines go according to their site.
The problem with legalizing the skyline's that are from the 1980's and newer is that all the model's except for the R34 and of course the "GTR" failed the crash test safety rating's that are set by california law.
If I remember correctly it was the side door impacts that they failed which motorx did the testing and improvement on for the skyline models. But every skyline that gets imported needs that special door bracing installed before it can even think about being legalized on the streets of california. As well as they need 3 catalytic converters installed to be ARB approved.
Now, I am no expert on importing, legalizing, owning etc.. skylines or any other model of imported car. This is just the information I have learned and gathered together from trying to get one of these myself a few years back when motorx was still actually around and selling cars.
Almost had myself an R33 GTS-T with a freshly rebuilt engine and turbocharger as well as the GTR body kit installed back before I started putting my FC together...

I knew the previous owner of that car. he traded his FD for that r33 then got tired of it sold it and got an r32 gtr. now he is debating on going back to another FD. I personally would not get a skyline unless its a gtr, anything else is not worth it.
black gts-t with mesh wheels right?
