Who owned this 1995 Orange FD in Japan? Cali plate

I bought this car from Japan and noticed there is a cali license plate. I just want to find out more about the build if possible. It's a white car repainted in to orange.

What would make you think that? Not while I owned it

If you're talking about the oxidation try living in Canada and leaving your car outside for the whole winter. It comes off with a swipe of a towel.

Doubt it's from CA. I bet someone in the military threw their plates on there and took pics of it.

Well, on-line CAL BAR records show no sign of it having had a smog check. Those records go back to around 2000, so the plates either left the states prior to that, or were on a car that was not in a smog-test county.

Series 3MC puts them as having been originally issued somewhere between 1994 and 1998.

It's not uncommon to see Cali plates in Japan just like we see people with Japanese license plates on their cars out here. People dig the Cali stuff out there (76 antenna *****, In-N-Out stickers, Dodgers stuff...). Someone could have bought the plates online or taken them with them a long time ago.
