Who met who @ SS9???
I *would* have met some cool rotary peeps last weekend, but my friend had to go and get married on the same day, and make me the best man so I couldn't get out of it.
Last year, I was set to go to SS8, and my then-pregnant girlfriend wasn't feeling so good so I stayed home to take care of her. At least I made SS6 & SS7 and got to stand right next to the 787B when they fired her up.
I will definately be at the next SevenStock and hopefully will get to meet all you fine people.

Hopefully things will be a bit more organized and user friendly next year. Im surprised that guy handing out "tickets" didnt suffer a heart attack with all the stuff people yelled at him.

go get a Z, or a supra
any twit can drop a V8 into a chassis, that isn't all too difficult but people driving several thousand miles in turboed rotaries getting *** for gas mileage, now that has priority parking in my mind.
An RX-7 is an RX-7 no matter what engine it has. This was the mentallity at all the previous Sevenstocks I've been to. There was quite a few cars that looked like they came out of a junkyard parked amongst the nice cars but nobody complains about those. I'd rather see a nice v8 RX-7 at a car show than see an ugly *** rotary RX-7.
Everyone is proud of their cars no matter what and everyone should be able to show them off no matter what engine is in it or how fugly the car is. The show should still be first come, first served to display your car inside.

go get a Z, or a supraV8 RX-7s had nothing to do with people parking on the other lot. The fact is that Mazda doesnt have a huge parking lot to accomodate everyone in front of their Mazda buildings.

Yea, the stupid rent-a-cop got an order from the property manager (above Mazda and even Ford), and started handing out tickets, but he got his butt reemed after. This was bogus, but not really a big deal my man! Sorry you didn't enjoy! You're always welcome to come help out and make things better!
On the cars across the lot, many showed up AFTER the lot was full, and others could only stay for a few hours.... I agree the lot was not big enough. but if we would've stayed at R&D not many would've gone in... what you have to understand is that there was 4 times the # of RX-8s this year... they have always been a small group, but this year, they were easily the most cars there!!!! The lot was overwhelmed!!!
On the who gets in and who doesn't... the show is about pride in your RX, even if your 16 and your RX is POS.... the reason we do the meet like this is because one day, I and others were that young kid with the POS that no one respected!! That's not going to happen at SS!!! On the comment that we were less tolerant this year, that's crap!!! It's always been the same!
Ask some of the V8 guys here I've talked to over the years.... I say your welcome, but others might not be as tolerant!

Yes there were twice as many RX8's this year but overall it was smaller. I think the largest was a few years ago when the Australian and Canadian venders where there (like GuRu racing). I didn't see PineappleRacing, Royal Purple, Endless and small venders like simply nuts, etc. I think the venders should have been on the stage side to and if there was a paddock or garage or whatever where the race cars where like where they started and reved engines last year I didn't find it. I also had a hard time finding the tech session and only made the last 10 min. The food was good but the raffle, well I can't stand when they throw stuff it turns people in to asswipes.
Bern,
I was kicked out by the bald asian guy with the black and yellow vest. I believe his name was Ryan? He specifically told me that NO piston swapped rx7's are allowed PERIOD in the lot, and he told me to park my car in the visitors lot. I then took a lap around the street, and I went back with my windows up, and sneaked in. A friend of mine with a white ls1 fd told me his hood got popped and he was pointed to the visitors lot as well.

J/K noob! Your car was looking sexy! One of the few white fd's at the event.
Bern! Thanks a million for welcoming my SVT in the show!Great Show, ......................................Gets Better Every Year!
next year,............................................m ore Super SVTs in the lot !
This year was by far the largest in terms of participants by a long shot, as the HQ parking lot is at least 4 times bigger then at R&D. As far as vendors go, yes there might have been a few less vendors, but there were at least +5 new vendors... Mazsport, Pettit, Axial-Flow Engineering, and a few others. I think SEMA hurt us this year with vendor count, and 8-9 other confirmed vendors just didn't show, which really sucks!... the calendar is always a tough deal.
On the V8 debate, it's always the same crap every year... if we do, peeps complain, if we don't, peeps complain... we can never win. We put a clear "no pistons" policy before, and we were haters... the show is a celebration of all things rotary first and foremost though, and welcomed others... but it looks like we'll have to make a tough choice next year and clear this whole thing up. sigh!!!!
My apologies to the V8 folks who waited in line and then were checked and refused entry into the lot because of the V8 issue. I will speak to Ryan and see what the deal was. There was no set policy stated, as far as I know. But you see even if we did set a policy, people would not respect it, and would try to sneak in.... we still don't win...
On venue layout GoRacer, we handed out programs with maps to the event to help guide people around, and there were several maps posted at the venue along with schedule. There was also the booths and stage where you could get info. On the tech sessions, not many people had trouble finding them, because the first session was bursting at the seams; standing room only. There was no courtyard this year, as all the factory race cars and specialty vehicles were presented in front of the main stage, we really had no room to put vendors there. There was a large open spot to help keep people circulating in front of the stage. Your comments are helpful and we'll try to make even more signage next year to help folks get around easier, but we need folks to look at the hand-outs.
Cheers,
-Bern

As to cars coming into the lot, the first guy who showed up in line that Saturday was a White FC, he showed up 5 mins after I got to the venue at 5:05 AM! If you own a cherry clean FD and woke up at 12:30pm and try to get into the lot, the guy who showed up at 6:30am got your spot! I don't care. Let me restate our long standing policy of SS : 1st come, 1st served. Get in line earlier next time! WE DON'T EVEN CHARGE A SINGLE PENNY FROM ANYONE!! ALL THE PROCEEDS FROM RAFFLE TICKETS AND T-SHIRT SALES COVERS THE SHOW AND HELPS SEED NEXT YEARS!!!
Thanks everyone for the positive comments!

I think people always take this event for granted.
Thanks for all your hard work guys. I wasn't able to make it for a full-day event...only an hour at most. But I appreciate everyone that is involved to making this event happen.
