Where to get ford 9" for rx2
Hey everyone. I got an 1973 rx2 sedan that I just broke an axle. Looking to put a ford 9" in it. I got a couple leads but they want $3000.00 to 3500.00. I see them being sold for american cars for half that price and I don't see how it would cost 1500.00 to weld a couple of brackets on. Anyone know where I can get one made for a better price in the Anaheim OC area?
there's is a guy on ebay that sells the ford 9 inch and the 8.8's for really good prices...I don't have the link but his rears are sold at really good prices...some people here on the forum have bought from him...

get a mid offset wheel in there rather than a high offset wheel , your gonna need the wheels and tires you wanna use before you start that way you can make the correct mesurements and while you are @ it you can make it whith coilovers in the rear or talk to rene i am sure he can make it happen
The only guy I would ever recommend for a job like this is Rene Franco in Los Angeles
(626) 221-6939 he can do anything you ask him and at a reasonable price. I warn you he is very busy so call him ASAP.

There are others along side rms that do the work as well...hit up mannyvidal on the forum he could point you in the right direction as well...so now you have two sources

A 9" in a little RX-2 is overkill plus they weigh a ton.
I would do an 8.8" rear with upgraded 31 spline or 33 spline axles and either Locker/spool or Eaton posi (clutch pack style). They have been 7's in plenty of Mustang applications.

I talked to a guy at Currie enterprises and he told me the ford 8.8 was not lighter than the 9" and that if it was it was very little. Also, the ford 8.8 does not have as many gear selections as the 9" and the 9" is 10x easier to make gear changes.
I had a couple currie 9" axles in my Jeep, they are really overkill
what about a dana 44... you should be able to get them narrowed for about 2k... maybe cheaper if you shop around
any axle shop out of a four wheeler magazine should be able to get you one
