well, i have heard something about a car that i worked on where they tried to jack the customer $800 for some crap. tried to sell him an ECU, alternator and battery when they could have just cut the wire going from the solenod rack to the battery. my bad for forgetting i installed the wire, their bad for not actually diagnosing the problem.
i'm sure they do more good than harm, we all have our days. you always have to watch your back though anywhere you go.
