coz of this thread, price of an smog-exempt old school went up by at least 250%. All you need is a proof of classic insurance. Cops know that these cars are not driven daily, less that 2,000miles/year

 

Smog-exempt just means you don't have to have it tested. If the cop was so inclined he can still give you a ticket for not having basic smog equipment, no cat, smog pump, ect.

 

true but NEVER NEVER seen or heard of an old school RX or any hot rods/low riders getting popped for tampering with smog equipment. Therefore, old school FTW

 

Neither have I. Hell i got pulled over in my uncles chopped 42 Ford because i was running around with the exhaust dumps open scaring people. All i got was a "just quiet it down"

 

And how often do you see them driving around? Not very often..

And those police pull you over for anything.. For three whole years I've never been hassled in my black, really dark tinted, 01 Sebring Convertible.. I upgrade to my RX8, and in 5 months I've been pulled over 3 times.

1 for getting out of a cops way (it was midnight, headlights were ******* me, and it was open lanes both sides of me), but i didnt signal and i was "straddling the lines"

2 for going 80+ next to a cop in a 65 zone (I'm an idiot)

and 3 they finally got me for 22% tint and not having front plates (but it was 2 am.. i didnt bother telling the guy it was dark, so maybe thats why he couldnt see me)

luckily, no wreckless driving ticket, or whatever it would have been for the 1st pullover.. no speeding ticket.. and no fix it ticket..

im extremely thankful for my luck, but, california sucks
