Might want to post which junkyard you were at. I'm guessing there's more than one U Pick Parts in the area covered by the west forum.

Thumbs up on the public service announcement though. I helped Brismo get an s4 t2 diff one time because someone posted up.

DOubt it. It has rust in the rad which is a sign of inside corrosion and maybe bad water seals. One rule about junkyards and rotaries... if its crashed and totaled = most likely good motor

If it s clean and sitting...most likely in the yard cause it blew

About $25-30 each depending on which yard. Get the S4 ones so you get replaceable ball joints unlike S5's.

I used to go to that yard a lot back when I lived in Sunland. At the time (1998-2001) they used to regularly get very pickable 1st gens. My mint-perfect dash top came from there, in fact.

I don't think that S5 motor will be any good. It looks like a cash 4 clunkers trade in (hence the orange spray paint). I saw a ton of those clunkers at SFS ecology. I thought maybe the whole pooring crap in the engine was bs till I saw a few empty bottles of "engine kill" under the hoods of those cars with the orange spraypaint.

Thanks for posting that up though, I never thought of taking pics of the rx's in the yards to post here. I'll have to do that in the future.

"few empty bottles of "engine kill"

I wonder if the engine kill damages the parts so they can't be reused again, or it could be cleaned off after taking apart?

Any first hand experience on how damaging this stuff really is?
