If you can R&R your own transmission, take it to Anaheim Gear. Near Ball and 57 FRWY. The trick is to let them do what they deem appropriate. Gone there several times, always great results, great back up, and great price. Price not a whole lot more than ^ poster indicated for a used JDM all things considered.
I was considering getting a JDM tranny but I know a lot of ppl who have had bad experiences. If I can find someone who brings in legit low mileage JDM trannies ill consider it.
What I planned on doing was to buy all the syncros, bearings and just take it to the tranny shop and let them handle it.

Sunset Transmission off Glendale Blvd and Temple (1 block south of 101 Freeway). Always busy. Seen vehicles for City of LA, AT&T, UPS so it seems legit.
Lara near Washington and Compton. Works on lots of big rigs, differential. they did the 4.44 and 4.78 ring & pinion swaps for my FBs and RX-3s.
