Thumbs up

They have great events for $50.00. I'll be there both days. This is Gymkhana, shorter drifts. More cone drifting and small tracks. Not to many long sweeps. Its great for learning. At the end of the day we get to run the whole track and there is a competition. Can't beat that for 50 bucks. If you need help there are a lot of great drifters there that can help you out, just ask.

You have to call and Tech with them.

The Just Drift Competition is also on the 23rd over at the Oval. Drop by on your off session and watch them compete.

$10.00 track insurance entrance fee.

Here is a short video I just made to show what goes on at the Just Drift events. The regulars are there practicing and us noobs are there trying to learn from them.

You need to pass a Tech inspection and fill out some forms. You have to go to Aerodyne, in Graden Grove. They usually fill up and close the days. They post up a drivers list and you can see what day has room. If you just show up there is a chance you won't get to drive. Plus they have to Tech your car at the track, if you don't pass, not much you can do there to fix it. It will also cut into your session.

Call them if you have some more questions they are really cool people.

Sooooooooo....do I have to drift the Gymkhana, or can I autocross it and keep traction???

I found this on the web:
G is for Gymkhana
At first glance, a gymkhana looks like an autocross – cones, timing equipment, a pre-defined course, cars and drivers. This is where the similarities end. Gymkhana is more like an automotive obstacle course than an autocross. Where an autocross emphasizes fluid motion and finding the limits of traction without exceeding them to achieve the fastest time around a predefined course (much like a smaller version of a road racing circuit), gymkhana emphasizes course memorization, driving techniques and vehicle momentum. Complex, tight maps constructed in small areas guide drivers through 360s around pointer cones, loop-back slaloms and handbrake turns - the list of obstacles is long and the difficulty high. A winning gymkhana car could be a high powered rear drive car like a 240SX or RX7, but it could just as easily be a small and agile front drive car like a Mini Cooper or Honda Civic. Anything can happen at a gymkhana event, so preparation and a sharp mind are key because sometimes getting the course right is the most difficult part!

Well I suppose you could. Its just a open track day. If you don't want to drift then you don't have to. But the turns are much tighter than the normal drifting and even auto-x. Like that article said, you have to do 360's around a single cone, and the course is timed. But we only do a course at the end of the day.

Before that it's; Single cone, Figure 8, then a loop with a run off to the straight and a e-brake turn, then back to the loop. They basically just keep adding what the course will consist of each session. The competition at the end will be based on time and judged on your drifts and all that stuff. So if you plan on just gripping through you will not qualify. But you get 3 practice runs so I guess you could just run through them. You do get a lot of track time, so even if you wanted to grip through it would be good practice.

I came here for my 1st drift event, and all I did was under steer and grip all day, although I didn't do it on purpose. But this is a drift event so everyone else will be in drift cars and drifting all the courses. Hope this helps and hope to see more 7's out there this time.
