Thinking of Moving out of CA. What are other places like?

So far the top of the list is Austin, Texas. Most singles, good pay, good prices on realestate and no state taxes. Next is Salt Lake or Provo Utah then maybe Boise Idaho or Wyoming just cause I could get a ranch for cheap and mary a farmers daughter "lol".

San Diego has posibilities but then i'm sure house prices are not much different then Orange County.

OK, seriously has anybody lived in any of these states and can offer any info at all? Boring, fun, ugly, pretty, cold, rainy, dry (no alcohol) morman no **** sex or go to jail kinda place? anything, anybody, someone, anyone ...Beauler?

you can get acres in Montana and Wyoming. I'm trying to stay towards the west. I've watched the weather maps and news and mid to east you have tornados, locasts, floods, huricanes, etc. texas has alot of snakes lol. west coast has earthquakes, oregon, wa too much rain. so just above texas to canada but east of those rain states but the further north the colder it gets. The other thing I have to think about is i'm 3/4 latin and Wyoming and Montana have about .02% spanish poluplation so I don't know how welcome they would be to me. Texas has alot of latin but almost all Mexican like CA which still puts me in the minority even with the minority. I could get a house in Montana for $100k but how far away is the nearest nympho? ...24hr anything?

I also thought about Canada. Would feel at home in the French district but it's cold, not much work, less money and no farmers daughters. Do they have blondes there? Playboy girls come from there. Hmm, well then there's Australia.

If you want hot Women, that aren't all F'ed up in the head with Stardom, like here... Texas is the place to be... Nice weather, Cheap Land.. (Relatively) if you're worried about beeing Hispanic and getting into troubble, stay west of San Antonio, best place for you is around El-Paso... then....

OK....I currently live in San Diego. Two years ago I moved from San Antonio where I lived for 10 years. During that time I spent quite a bit of time in Austin (partying on 6th street and visting friends). I also spent some time in Houston going to races and taking the wife shopping. Here's my take on all 4 places:

San Diego: Well, it's pretty damn nice. It's expensive as all hell compared to Texas but there is SOOOOOOO much more to do here in so cal that you just can't get in Texas (without driving your **** off). East of San Diego in Ramona you can buy some sizeable properties for a good price (for So Cal at least). Wife and I just bought a custom built 2 year old house that is 2200 sq ft on 1/2 acre with a nice mountain view and a 3 car garage. Paid 600K. Wife and I drive 30 miles each way to work. If we would have bought the same house where we work, it would have been priced well above 1mil. There are 3 bedroom, brand new townhomes with 2 car garages that can be had for 450K within a mile of I-15. Anyways, San Diego is great and the weather is pretty temperate. surfing; skiing; Vegas; theme parks such as Disney, LegoLand, etc... all relatively close. Likewise, there is quite a bit of professional racing and drifting out here in So-Cal that just flat out does NOT exist in San Antonio/Austin. Only downside is that we don't have a 1/4 mile drag. Oh yeah....the women here are MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more beautiful, healthy, fit, and sexy than they are in San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. I have dragged 3 friends from San Antonio out here for jobs over the past 2 years and they all state that they would NEVER go back. Oh yeah...we don't have any mosquitos over here!!

San Antonio: Housing is cheap and plentiful. Crapbox cookie cutter brand homes can be had for 120K. A good sized used home can be had for 160-180K. Wife and I had 3000 sq ft custom built with 4 bedrooms/3 baths, office, library, and 2 car garage sitting on 1/3 acre with huge trees for 160K. Only problem though is that the home prices do not go up over there. You're damn lucky if they go up 3% per year. If you want to build your dream home and never move, great place. The weather sucks nuts compared to So-Cal. It's usually hot as all hell for about 3-4 months during the summer. When I say hot, I'm talking 105-110 for months on end. Starting in late October and ending in February, it's cold and rainy about 85% of the time. Likewise, if you have allergies, San Antonio will be a living hell for you. They polen that blows in around Mid November and won't leave until early March. It's so frickin bad that you'll walk into the grocery stores and rows of allergy medicine will be all sold out. It's not limited to a smal % of the population as it affects around 90% of all the residents. EVERYBODY is sick and sneezing and their eyes are swolen. The women are a little more firey there but they're also more round. Average weight for women age 20-30 is probably around 140 lbs. They're big women over there and it's primarly caused by the diet. They eat a ton of carbs in their diet and there is not a whole lot of exercising going on. As a matter of fact, there are very few gym's and it's either too hot or too rainy to be exercising outside. The food is awesome but the figures that result from it are not. Just a couple of years ago, San Antonio was trading places with Houston as the Fattest city in the U.S.. One last thing, the mosquitos are fricking huge over there. I mean HUGE. You'd swear that they need landing lights they're so fricking huge. They're also plentiful. ANY time I was workign in the garage on the car with the door up, I HAD to light a citronella candle. San Antonio does have a nice 1/4 mile drag strip though. Oh yeah....almost forgot.....there's no industry there. Unless you want to work in 1.) Toursim, 2.) a Hotel, or 3.) a Hospital....they're not much to choose from in terms of good paying jobs. Typically high humidity but not as much as Houston.

Austin: Very hip and young town. Housing prices are 1/2 between San Antonio and San Diego. Traffic can suck on an L.A. scale. Lot of partying going on there by white kids on 6th street. Is a BIG college town. The weather is more temperate in Austin than San Antonio in that it doesn't get as hot or as rainy. It does however freeze every winter and upon occasion every 5 years or so, it will snow. They're quite a bit to do in Austin and people there are generally more fit than San Antonio or Houston. Big jobs there in Austin are in computers and electronics. With Dell, AMD and a host of supporting companies there, computers are big in that town. There are a bunch of outdoor activities to do there, 6th street (3 blocks of live bands), and South By Southwest music festival but other than that, it's pretty dry. Mosquitos are huge there as well. Not as high of humidity as San Antonio. Housing prices escalate at So-Cal rates which is pretty nice.

Houston: See San Antonio above but with more overweight, morbidly obese people. Quite a bit of industry supporting oil drilling (primarily off-shore). Fckn outrageoulsy high humidity (like 90%+ on a daily basis) and and hot as all hell with temps in the mid-high 90's. Houston is a BIG town with quite a bit to do though. No real beaches though as it's a port town. Nearest nice beach is about 5 hours away at South Padre Island. Houston has quite a bit of crime and is also prone to Hurricanes. Housing is cheap and plentiful.

If I had my choice, I'd choose San Diego, then Austin, then San Antonio, and then finally Houston in that order.

Yeah....for the most part the women in Texas aren't as high maintenance but then again, they're not as highly maintained either.

Friend of mines girlfriend was a size 4 over there and was considered superfine and very petite. When she moved over here, she realized that her ***** DOES stink and she was embarassed to do to the beach. Mind you in San Antonio she would go tubing in a string thong and was always falunting her ****. Over here she realized she was below the norm. Just a bit of comparison for ya.

In San Antonio, if you were a 20 year old female and didn't already have at least one kid, it was assumed that you weren't born and raised in San Antonio. We used to joke that if for some reason you couldn't get laid, you could always go down to SW Military Highway and stand out by the road with a sign that says "Will trade - Diapers for Sex", and you'd get picked up within a few minutes by a single mom.

East Coast FTW!! Florida, GA, SC are all great places to live. And the hurricanes aren't a sure thing. The last couple of years have just been really rough. It will all go back to normal soon. Just my take on things though.

But if you want to stay out West then Phoenix and it's suburbs are all really nice. Then you're only 4 hours or so from LA and all of the car events. And you won't have to worry about getting pulled over and having your hood popped. AZ has pretty tough emissions testing, but it seems to be MUCH easier to get over that system than it is here.

THanks "fsae_alum" - that's what I was looking for. Austin still has possibility's allthough I prefer, short, petit blonde barbi's (natural, don't like bee stung lips and silicone *****) that arent stuck up, which in CA they just moved here from another state. The mosquito thing is something you can't find on the internet just like the snakes (saw on travel channel) in texas. I'll start checkin out San Diego.

I need computer and/or government work but if the house is cheap enough i'll just retire. the only problem is, if it's that cheap there won't be any race tracks or anything but horses and cows.

I don't want to go back to the east coast. lived in Long Island, Miama and n. carolina for a few months. NY is too crowded and too expensive. Fl is to much male competition (you wont get first pick in the nightclubs) and allergies, rain, mosquitos, etc. N. Carolina well lets just say I don't have relatives from the cival war and the Klan does exist. Georgia looked nice but I didn't stay long enough to tell. Tennesee has probably the hottest chicks on that side of the coast (talk about farmers daughters). I also had a g/f in Tuscon and omg was it devil hot! When we would take a break a few hours from indoor activities we would run to the car and stop at cold stone for a shake. We even went to the movies just cause the a/c in the apt couldn't handle the hot weather. we didnt even car what the movie was. she was a med sized natavie american but she is in the dictionary under nympho lol.

Wyoming seems really nice but at 98% white they will think i'm an alien. Being part French doesn't help since people don't like French either. Not that i'm putting down Mexico its just so freekin annoying. Its like people asking if you speek canadian. My coworker is Tai and he is assumed to be Filipino or Vietnamese depending on if he's in OC or LA. DO they not teach geography is school anymore? Anyhow, the point with that was being in a night club and getting in to a fight with Texans (frm Dallas) that think John Wayne was President and that they are the **** to the ladies. Well gentlemen take off their hats when they eat, they dont carry around a spatoon and if your a cowboy, you've actually rode a horse. SO when I mentioned that John Wayne was an actor and he was Polish and not american ...well I had to show them that thar fancy sushi fighten as they put it.

Well, Texas has Blondes but not many are natural. If you want white chicks, Austin is the place in Texas. If you want Hispanic/Latina, go to San Antonio. San Antonio can be hot like what you were describing in AZ. That's why they have so damn many huge theatres....it's just too hot to be outside. I remember after I moved out here two years ago, I went nack to San Antonio in early March to move my ife adn all of our stuff out here and I thought I was going to fckn die it was so damn hot. It was early March and was 95 outside with about 90% humidity. I sweated more in being outside for 5 minutes than I did the whole 2 months I was in San Diego prior to that. My wife was laughing because I had already become adjusted to San Diego weather.

The nearest professional racetrack (IRL, NASCAR, etc....) is in Dallas which is 4 very boring hours from Austin and 5 hours from San Antonio. Some close personal friends of mine with tons of money have been trying like hell for the past 10 years to get a professional track built outside San Antonio but none of the sanctioning bodies will even look at South Texas due to the demographics.

Not a whole lot of Gov't military work in Austin but San Antonio has 4 military bases.

San Diego on the other hand has a TON of electronics and military work. We've got 3 bases here and a crapload of military support work. What exact type of work are you looking for (programming, etc...)?

Wow, i'm going to have to go check it out. I was going to stay there and have my car tuned at Gotham but I sighned up for the group tune here. Austin sounds like a nice place to visit but I may end up wanting out after a while. I should go up there before it cools down.

The problem with san diego is the house prices arent going to be much different then orange county. The lifestyle is pretty much the same, so I don't think i'd get homesick and bored out of my mind.

Salt Lake has alot of high tech computer jobs and it's a big city but beleive it or not the crime rate is about double that of OC or similar to LA. Housing is alot cheaper, cost of living cheaper but my RX7 would be a summer only car.

Wyoming is beuatiful and you can get alot of land for cheap. It wouldn't matter if I got a job as a lumberjack for $5/hr or whatever cause my house would be paid in full as well as my cars and money left over but no place to spend it. No 4x4 trails, no race tracks, no bars, no clubs, how do you meet girls there?

There's also the state laws. What are they? How bad are they? Utah is mostly morman. You have to get a membership at a nightclub to drink and last call is before midnight. You can only have a drink at a restaurant with dinner. You can mary more then one girl but only have sex with one at a time and only missionary style. Oral sex is illegal in some states. Do they have blow job police? No hand gun laws in those states, even for kids. I don't think they have strict smog laws, but suprisingly Austin TX does. I don't want to get thrown in jail for a hummer and the local cops are the hillbillies from deliverance! Shure I can retire there or in Montana but I don't want to boink sheep. If my 4x4 gets 10/12mpg, how much is gas and how far away is the gas station or anything for that matter? That's the stuff you can't find on the states web site.

Well, Austin is about as liberal and relaxed as it comes in Texas. I mean crap, they have a guy named Kinky Friedman running for governor who used to lead a band called "Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys". They have 2 blocks of nightly drunk partying downtown called 6th street. Women are all there and drunk. Yep, oral sex is legal and so is PIIDB so no need to worry about that. Austin isn't as hillbilly as you'd think. They're the most civilized of all of Texas. They're definetly NOT a dry county. Dry counties in TX are in the panhandle and Dallas area. Austin does know how to party. Laws are pretty lax. Can carry a gun (concealed with permit no less). Yes, they do have smog over there but it's nothing like the ****'s we have here. They won't profile or pop your hood like over here. They will however get you for speeding as everybody drives considerably slower....and in the fckn left hand lane 99% of the time Seriously, Austin is about as party happy and care free as it comes. I mean the neighbors called teh cpops on Matthew Mohogany there in Austin because he was playing the bongos naked. Cops showed up and saw that he was naked, smoking weed, and beating on bongos and thay just told him to keep it down and walked off. They're pretty laid back over there. You should really fly out to Austin and check it out some time.

Montana is inexpensive to live in but the wage is comparable (i.e. low). And it's very conservative, unless you go live in Bozeman (but then you will pay more for housing). Beautiful state and lots to do out of doors, if you like that, in the summer time. Butt cold in the winter. And we didn't see one rx7 when we were there for 10 days recently. I know they're there, but you'd have to search them out.

tonedeftony moved to CA from Boise. I was interested in moving up there last year, but the winter's are cold (really cold) and the summer's are hot. Great group of rotary owners there (idahorotary.com), and I think it's affordable to live there, and the wage is probably a bit better than in Montana.

I'm from Portland, OR. Great city, good wages (depending on what you do) and housing is still less costly than in CA. Also a larger group of rotary owners, plus you've got Portland International Raceway for track days!

I also love San Diego, but it IS expensive there.

Good luck making a choice. Go visit your choices a couple of times over a couple different seasons, so you can check out the weather, if that's important to you.

Thanks RX7_Babe

Yeah, i'll have to cruise their with the 7 after it's tuned. I know someone from Grants Pass, so I would never even step foot in that state. I'm not much of a camper, fisher or hunter but would like to dirt bike ride and go muddin with the 4x4. I don't snow board very well, so maybe i'll be bored in MO & WY. I'm not very conservative and wouldn't mind Ted Nugent for Mayor or President.

Could you tell me any more about Bozeman? Have you been to Wyoming to? I don't know why I think I would make it though cause 59 degrees might as well be -150 to me. SO that pretty much eliminates Canada. Is Australia all wilderness and crockodiles?

Not all. Great thing about Australia is that you can import gray market cars like Skylines, Soarers, 180SX's, Silvia's, etc.... all day long and get them dirt fckn cheap. Friend of mine went ther and said that you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Skyline. Watch out for the snakes, rats, and very poisonious spiders though. Also need to keep an eye out for the sharks in the water.
