Terminal Island Info...

Whassup rotor heads!

I hope opening this thread isn't premature but I just got some new info on the new Terminal Island. I'm sure you all know last time Terminal Island was open it was a 1/4 mile track. This time Big Willie is planning on a motor park. I saw the layout of the of the proposed park which will include:

1/4 mile drag track
Road track
MotoCross track
kart track
Drifting area
Garage area
Drag boat/Jet Ski area

Still not sure on the launch date but I was told that grand op;ening should happen sometime this summer. Some of the major permits needed have been granted by the City of LB. I was also told that they are laying the pavement for the various tracks. MTV and VH1 among others are lining up now to show their presence on the grand opening.

I wanted to open this thread to start a dialogue on the infamous Bros Raceway/Motor Park at Terminal Island now so we show a huge rotary presence on opening night. If anyone else out there has additional information please post what you know here so we can all stay on top of it. This will quite possibly be the best places to play in SoCal!!! So let's share the info!

I know there's been a lot of complaints about the street racing here in LA county and the crack down on it since it has caused so many tragedies...we need to support this proposed raceway since it will serve us right here in the LA area and finally give us a place to race in a safe environment and without the hassle.

Yeah me too! I been hearing about opening dates since last year and they keep gettin pushed back. I hope they get permits for everything they're tryin to build. If not I'll settle for the 1/4 mile track even though I building up for Road Racing. Anyway...If this is BS in anyway I'm gonna run over my info contact on boost!

What's an expectator? Do you mean, spectator? Yes, you do.
I'll be watching from the stands because you haven't got back to me about your RX-3SP. LOL.
Otherwise, I'll be a participant in my REPU.

Wow...I really hope this goes thru. They've been discussing re-opening this track for years. Finally, we'll have a dedicated 1/4 mile track to fulfill our need for speed.

I don't mean to be a downer, and I really hope it finally happens, but Big Willie has been saying the same thing for at least 7-8 years that I personally know off. Ever since I worked at California Harley Davidson in Lomita, Ca. He use to come in and show us paperwork, copies of checks from MTV, said people want to do a movie about him and his track. Dates he gave us years ago have come and gone.

I use to go back in the day as well, now I live even closer. I gotta tell you, the limited room on Terminal Island is the biggest problem. Importing and exporting of goods is all there is room for on that Island. The cost per square foot is skyrocketing due to larger container ships, ship yards, and means of transporting in and out of Terminal Island more effeciently. That is a multi-billion dollar industry on Terminal. He would have much better luck moving his endeavors elsewhere.

Like I said, I don't mean to be a party pooper, but don't hold yur breath. Come down to T.I. sometime and look at what is being done and has already been done. There really is no room for a track of that size, let alone the parking for spectators. The land is worth too much $$ now. I will gladly be the first to say I was completely wrong if it does come through.

i think you're right...i've heard the same thing...i also work at TI. Where was the track before? Off of Ferry St over the vincent thomas? there is no more room..in fact they built another island about 2 years ago because of lack or space.

Yeah like I said I've been hearing of supposedly opening dates for the past two years, and they've been pushed back time and time again due to permits and $$. I'm not sure if it's gonna be in the same place, but I was out there about a month ago and it is pretty crowded. I think if he does pull it off, the varous tracks/areas will be meshed (only can hold 1 type of event at a time since the various tracks share the same area). But this is the exact reason why I started this thread so we can all be informed and kept abreast of what's really going on with it. So I'm still gonna keep my fingers crossed because it's a lot closer for me than LACR, Willow, and Buttonwillow!
