"Street Racing"
(Sorry in advance, but here comes a rant... bewaare!)
From the other thread about LACR I went to their site... http://www.lacr.net/news.htm - And I read all these stories about how street racing, most quoted from newspapers and such... and man, what a bunch of bullshit. Every time they try to state some "facts" about how it's dangerous, it sounds the same every time.. "Well, we had X in his HONDUH CIVIC(/legend/any other piece of **** FWD car, whose owner is required to have an IQ less than his shoe size to be "racing" in) with giant rice wing here... he was revving at every car he saw, apparently this MINIVAN took him up on his offer and he proceded to fly off the cliff into a telephone pole."
And I totally fail to see the problem with that? Rice doesn't taste so good unless it's cooked anyway!
And maybe someone will say they're going to hurt other people? Yeah? And?! THEY'RE GONNA DO IT ANYWAY, THEY'RE IDIOTS! Obviously this is just speeding up natural selection a little... "racing" they'll crash faster... and they have a WAY higher chance of only killing themselves. Whereas normally we'd just have to wait until next time it RAINS and watch them try to change 4 lanes all at once, spin around and create a mile long pileup in rush hour traffic... which I could be involved in, no matter how careful I am. So as far as street racing killing peope? Awesome. Innocent bystanders? I find it hard to believe you could miss a fart cannon and giant wing coming flying at you... just use common sense and pay attention when you're out on the street... duh.
Oh and in one story the person WHO DIDN'T KNOW THE RICER THAT CRASHED, comes back and calls the police for an ambulance! AND THEY THROW HIM IN JAIL AND CHARGE HIM WITH MANSLAUGHTER?! ******* PIGS! Fat chance I'll ever stick around to call the cops if I see some ricer crash, tough **** man, maybe if the pigs used some common sense you'd get to see an ambulance before you die.
Now, I'm not saying I'm all pro-street racing here... drag racing is pretty freakin stupid to me anyway even at a TRACK... let alone on the street. But cops are just looking for any reason to give people tickets, they pull **** out of their asses about how this and that kills people... well guess what the leading cause of death is!!! OLD ******* AGE DIPSHITS! Followed by a long list of DISEASES-- not CAR CRASHES. I think it's time to start writing people up for breathing 'cause **** man they could kill someone doing that ****!
I'm getting really sick of seeing so many self righteous cops preaching about the dangers of "street racing" (generic tag name used to describe any manor of CARS MOVING) when they don't even know how to drive a car themselves... how could they possibly know about what is dangerous?
I should be a cop. Then I too could campaign against anything I don't have the brainpower to understand, in an effort to fund my own paycheck... and pad the pockets of my good buddies at the tow yard.

I agree, with fuman. I am a Marine and do you know what the leading cause of death for Marines is? Even with war running rampant...you guessed it CAR WRECKS.

Not to insult you personally, I don't know you. But if you were trying to go off the assumption that Marines must be smart... you have a LONG LONG way to go on convincing me. Every HS buddy that went into the Marines, despite being my friends, were big headed idiots... nice guys but they're just DUMB. Perfect Military men. I would've done military, but I can't stand following STUPID orders even in a normal job... and the military is all about no questions follow orders. **** that, if I see something wrong with a plan of action I always bring it up.
I don't suppose there's a lot of point to arguing about this on the internet, but I felt like venting on the issue since it hits close to my favorite SAFE hobby.

i say organized street racing is a bad idea, i have never participated in that b.s.
canyon runs and moderate(60mph max, backing off if unsafe) stoplight drag racing is what i limit myself to, and realize would could happen if i get caught doing it.
its those ******** who'll die trying to win no matter what is what really pisses me off -- i.e. running red lights, passing on blind turns, taking stupid risks.
its really about being aware of your surroundings, and being smart about it.
god i ******* hate ricers.

Yeah I hate the fact of whats going on. for people like this cops start getting hard on everybody. We all pay for the consequenses. Just for example check this out it happened on Tuesday morning on a very busy street at 8 o'clock in the morning.

regardless of opinions on the forums, its all about politics. parents vote for sheriffs, sheriffs do what they can to get these votes. so contentrating on 'street racing' will keep the simple minded folks attention away from whatever things sheriffs let slide, or perhaps take advantage of when they are in office.
