I would really appreciate any help I could get. Thanks in advance.

The answer to this question would be based largely on where you live.

I'm not sure how much the EGR actually helps. I don't think they even had them on s5's. Also, I'm not sure if theres even a space for it on j-specs.

S5's never had EGR's on J-specs. Isn't there someone out there with constructive criticism? Haha. Seriously guys, I just need a little help on this.

what car? what engine?

the smog guy is going to look at the car, if its an 87-88 he's MIGHT look for an egr valve, which the jspec doesnt have.

if the car is an 89+ he might still look for the egr valve, but its not supposed to have one, either usa or jdm

other than that, they are close enough, and the jspec working properly, will pass out the tailpipe, egr or not

if you put all the US emissions stuff on the jspec it should pass just fine.
now I don't live in Cali but this is what I have read on these forums.

I'm going to be smoging a s5 jspec in my s4 in Houston with a Microtech LT8 soon.
I should be able to get it thru but it might take a few tries.

if they go looking for EGR I'm just going to tell them its an S5 engine....I guess I would need to meeting the emissions for the S5.

I passed w/ my EGR blocked off.
EGR is useless, airpump ACV and a good wokring cat and a properly running motor should get you past.
