CA for smog check

Is the air pump requiered in order to pass the smog check? or you can pass it without the pump. Because I took mine out, the good thing when I took it off the car I kept everything even the belt. If I need it I will put everything back in the car.

yes, your going to need it. that is why they call it a smog pump..and that is why mazda put a sticker that say's.."DO NOT REMOVE"

Thanks acidangel, my pump didn't have the sticker, I just wanted to clean up a litle under the hood but I guess I have to keep it on the car. lol

My brothers na s5 passed without the pump.. No tricks used. We got it with no pump n it passed everything besides visual but... I just looked the other way

your welcome. not really, just put it back on..pass smog. then remove it again...

thanks, I got everything back in the car is ready for smog check,by the way mine is a s4 tII.

i have to use exhaust clips to get the cat from my se that is new and put it on the gs to smog it, then take it off and put on a hollow one, and also have to find a way to get the nox emissions down....arggghhhhh

tell me about it, it is a lot of work. I"m thinking about selling my rx7 and just stick to old school. Rx3 or Rx2
