I'm out. My FC is at the body shop getting a new fender and new paint after being hit in a hit and run.

Yeah because swapping a nice smog legal and easy to legally modify 5.0 engine in place of a weakly, finicky smog nightmare once modified 12A or early 13B is definately a stupid move right

If it's done right that 5.0 should be a nice engine for an FB, similar to the V8 swaps into the early Z car's although IIRC the engine bay is tighter in an FB thus possibly needing a custom set of tubular headers built just for the FB.

Does midnight have another new owner or? Last time I was in there it was a honda fest everywhere you looked and all they seemed to support was JDM tyte honda stuff at high prices.

If they've changed their tune ( pun intended ) then I might have to stop by there some day and see what all they can do and possibly trade work with them as they're not to far from my place.

That's right, sometimes you have to sacrifice power in order to be smog legal, I use to beat newer cobras, firehawks, ss z28's with my street ported 13b rx2 Was only running a 51 ida weber. Best thing was seeing their face, they were like, what the hell just happened?
I always say why put a slower heavier engine, oh well depends on the person I guess. But yeah smog would be my only reason. But I'd probably pull it right out and put my rotary back in.
I'm most likely going to street or bridge port that eng I picked up, already have the holley and manifold. Brap-brap.

numbers were way lower then my last run but a bit more accurate is my guess 120hp and 110 torque street ported by ben, ebay intake filter, single exit apexi exhaust on the pass side, ran with full advanced timing, and adjusted the fuel and air for it the back fire it made on the dyno scared the hell out of everyone there

Ahahaha! Rotaries have to shoot fire that's Mandatory. Wish there was a vid of that.

its kinda hard to get video of a rwd on a dyno since they all make it easy for a fwd to just roll right on

I see. In Minnesota all the dynos were set up for RWD for the muscle crowd.

What were your previous numbers? I can't wait to dyno mine.

193 hp and 109 torque that was also on a dyno jet but it was really screwy when it read 109 hp and 193 torque i think someone got the wires crossed but im going to go back to that place again when they do another dyno day and see if i can reproduce the numbers

^ interesting that your torque numbers on both dynos showed 110, but big discrepancy in measured hp. So how does it feel? Like 193 or more like 122 hp?

The Apexi single exhausts are huge. Might be killing your power. I'm thinking it's impossible to make 193 whp with that exhaust on a streetported na; I had a similar experience last year running on a dyno with wickedly optimistic numbers.

Yep. Known feature of having an open exhaust. Maybe too open.

Did you use your own wideband at the header or rely on their tailpipe sniffer (or just guessed)?

I might go to San Ramon this Saturday and dyno both of my na FCs. One has a known HP value that I will use to 'calibrate' the results. The other may be down on power due to compression taking a nose dive, I'm afraid.....

the adjustment was done based on how it revved up like if it was a slow or just didnt sound right and the piping is 2.5 inch my 193 run was done with a 2.25 homemade crush piped exhaust with a shitty muffler kinda seems like it should be somewhere in between

An exhaust with a crush pipe is much more restrictive. The 2.25 diameter is being reduced the reopened at every bend.

I had the Apexi N1 on my last FC. I doubt a car would loose power due to that exhaust though that FC was a turbo.

I forget which dynos show high numbers. Is it Mustangs dynos that show high numbers or dynojets?

Turbo vs. na have different design requirements for exhaust setup.

With the Apexi GT Spec, I was down -25 whp compared to a Mindtrain dual (not a true dual. It's a Y-pipe design.). I used to run the N1, but never dyno'd. The Apexi single exhausts are probably more suitable for a turbo application, where pressure wave scavenging isn't the primary design goal.

In my experience, a Mustang reads much higher for low hp applications. When Ben tuned my car initially, the Mustang claimed nearly 190 hp. Days later, the same car made 106 hp on a calibrated dyno, so the Mustang was off by a factor of 1.8
