Well AA and I have worked on my car before. I also sell him parts all the time (for cheap, I try to get people the best deal I can.), and I can honestly say I haven't fucked anyone over yet.

Sh*t dude sorry to hear that had to happen. I think your supposed friend is a really crooked person and the fact that you found no glass on the out side of the car and very little on the inside make me want to tell you to whooooooooooop his *** even after you get the money because that's some faulty ****.

If your up for task take him to small claims court and try and get your money. You should have probably called the cops when you got to your car so you would at least have an official report. But good luck getting your car back together.

And to your supposed friend............ **** You!!!!!!

Wow, that is a terrible story. You seem like a smart guy too, so I wouldn't be surprised if many of us wouldn't have made the same mistake you did, given the circumstances (take some solice in that!)

Interesting comment about the Marines. Those ads on TV get to me - I always wonder about it. I'd love to have the experiences to look back on (assuming I didn't get killed). The thing that always stops me is the fact that you loose too much of your freedom.

Final note on stolen cars - a friend of a friends dad used to keep a bottle of Jack Daniels in the trunk of his car. He put rat poison in it. Sure enough his car got stolen one day, and the punk that took it and his friend drank the bottle, and one of them died. He was convicted, which was BS in my opinion. Poetic justice I say!

AA and myself went to the yards this week-end and were surrounded by 7's.

Well I been troubleshooting and fixing the 7 all week-end and think I have it narrowed to the leading coil pack shitting. Any one have one in the san diego area? I can't make it to the yard and didn't find out until this morning.

I wonder if any of these were victims of the fire at SPD?

Anyway, I'm sorry to read about your tragedy. Hope all goes well for you during the rebuild.

I got all the leaks under control. I also found out I had no spark so some fresh ngk's and a new leading coil pack took care of that. Still I can't get it to start. I'm thinking a compression check is in order, which sucks because it had great compression before. And I guess if it's bad I'll be getting a free rebuild. I try to stry hopeful, If it's bad i'm streetporting while it's out.

Hey FYI sounds like your supposed friend is a crook! The crap he gave you about his car and yours is uber bullshit. i bet he staged the whole thing just so he didn't get his *** kicked. I had a friend move in with me and lie to me and my parents and steal some of our ****....he obviously wasnt a very good friend (and neither was yours). i hope you get your gear back and your (ex-) buddy get what he has coming to him.

My final thought: Evil friend/Random people make great target practice!!!!

Is it not doing anything or turning over and not starting?

Your Third biggest mistake?

Several have asked and you have yet to answer (unless I missed it) but you should have/need to get a police report. When the police investigate it they may take a closer look at this guy which would end up being profitable to you. Happened to my once. And, if you do decide to pursue this in court you have nothing without a police report. Next time don't even touch your car until the police have come and investigated it and told you its OK to take home.

For what it's worth I stored a buddy's '58 body off restored Vette for 3 years in my garage when he went to Singapore for a job. Per our agreement I drove the car once a month and when the clutch started acting up I took it to a Vette specialty shop, paid for it and then asked for him to pay me back. Would do it again if I had the garage space.

But, your situation sucks, maybe you should publish this guys home address!!

this guy needs to get shot

then take is FD and burn it infront of him

and we'll get some ex cons, to, have their way with him

and then we'll all kick the **** out of him until blood comes out of every available orafice

people like this dont deserve to live

they take advantage of anything and everyone for their own personal benefit

ive known too many people like this in this world to feel any differently about them

It turns, has spark, and has fuel. I'm going to test the compression tommorrow. Please excuse me I mean it will turn over but not run. I got it to run twice but I had keep my foot on the gas and there was clouds of white smoke.

He only has a little time left to make things right then I'll have to start the legal bullshit. I've yet to see his FD and he says he still doesn't have it.

I went to see him tonite but he was drunk.......not a good sign. If you got money to drink you got money for my ******* car.

I did a quick compression test this morning with a simple gauge I rented. The rear rotor appears to have some life left in it but the front rotor is done for. I'm going to do another test just to be sure, because i had to do the whole thing by myself and I wnat someone else to crank while I watch.

I need this car back on the road soon, so what is my best option for a new motor? Should I get a reman? I don't have the time to build on myself. I know alot of the buliders in this area are swamped already.

I will tell him the motor is blown today and explain that if I don't get payment I will take it above his head.

There's a lesson here for all:
Get an N/A (cheap) in good shape. Keep a strict limit on your car mod budget.
Don't leave it with anybody.
Don't let anybody drive it.
That failing, go to insurance or go to police or settle with cash right away (the day of or, if that is impossible, within 1-2 weeks). You won't be able to later. Keep a camera in your glove box. Digital is best (for e-mail), but you can go disposable for under $10 - often a better option.

Doesn't just apply to cars. Doesn't just apply to enemies or strangers.

Remember that with many people words don't mean a thing, including words of friendship, etc. When words fail, quit arguing/begging/complaining/requesting/demanding/getting-the-run-around and take forceful action (that doesn't mean raising your voice and asking harder, in case you don't get it).

Just thought I'd bring this back up and say thanks to everyone that helped me out. The "newer" motor is pretty much ready to get put back in, just waiting on a few more small things. As for the idiot he has since fallen onto hard times and karma has made him it's bitch. He is now somewhat crippled for life.

For now you can see me in the 69 toyota beater............

Thanks again Dave.
