Second biggest mistake I ever made

Okay sadly enough I made the second biggest mistake I ever made not too long ago. I'm not writing this for you guys to give me sympathy. I just wanna make sure no one else ever does this. I know it was a stupid mistake on my part but it should be known.

Okay I leave the state all the time, and most times I have somewhere to put my 7. But this time I lost my spot and was short on time. I turned to a friend whom I have known for over two years to look after my car. I have heard the horror stories that happen when poeple do this, but I had done this before with another friend with no ill results.

So that morning after talking it over with this friend he agrees to look after it while i'm gone. He has a spot off the street in a secure location so I have no worries. I tell him not to drive the car because it has boost creep and the usual T2 electrical problems. He tells me not to worry because he has his own 7. Yes that's right he has a pretty fast FD. So I gave him the benifit of the doubt because I have known him so long and we have never had any problems, besides he has a twin turbo why would he want to drive a T2?

Two days into my trip I get a call from him telling me it has broken down on the side of the I-15. Despite our agreement I remain in a decent mood. He tells me it looks like it's leaking oil from the pan. Okay I say just tow it back and I'll get a gasket for the pan and we'll fix it and drink some beer, you know just have a day fixing the car and relaxing. He calls me back later and tells me it's at his girlfriends place in her garage. I didn't approve of that but as long as it's under a roof I don't care.

So I'm done with my trip and my wife is there to pick me up on a Friday. Sure enough there is the mazdatrix box with the gasket in it on the back seat. That perfect timing makes my day and I spend the night out on the town. The next day I call this guy and get no answer. Sunday goes by with no answer to my voice mails and calls. Monday rolls around so I go to this guy's place expecting the worst. He has to be avoiding me for a reason. I catch him and he tells me his FD was stolen. I tell him that sux I had my old 7 stolen but got it back. Then he says all the **** that was in my FC was in his FD. Why? Why I ask? I didn't get a straight answer. Then he tells me it was safer in there. How? Oh he tells me your car is on the street. I thought he said it was in the garage but that's just me. So my tools are gone along with alot of expnesive gear in there. I only left that **** in there because it was in a safe location that no one could get into.

For two days I try to get him to tell me where the car is. He says he doesn't know the exact address. I assume it's stolen and prepare to file a report and contact the insurance company. Then I catch him again and he gives me these vauge directions to a horrible city outside of san diego. I roll around (in the ******* rental I had to get) for 45 minutes and then find it on a side street in the middle of the ******* ghetto. I mean I don't live in the best part of diego but damn this place was bombed out. I roll past and it looks okay but dirty. I park and get up to it and notice the passinger window is gone. And sure enough the alpine is gone along with the old school jenson amp I loved. Wires are hanging from my turbo timer but it's still there. My brakes are rusted, there is oil everywhere under the hood, under the turbo there is a puddle, and under the pan there is a puddle. It looks like some one was walking on my car and then tried to pull off my bov. Oil even came out the hood between the hood scoop insert and the hood. Not to mention my new battery is dead and won't even take a charge. I fear the day (this week-end) when i patch her up and try to turn it on.

So after I tow the 7 back to my place I talk to guy again and he says he told me it got broken into. No ******* way. So I tell him what the **** about my ****, how about some cash for breaking your word and ******* my **** up. He says he's strapped for cash becuase he has to get his FD out of the impound (the cops found it). So i'm fucked with out all my **** and with a running car.

I know I was stupid to trust someone else with my car. I just don't want anyone to make the mistake I have. I had asked another friend to watch my car before and he left in in his garage under a cover and nothing bad happened, so maybe I thought I could get lucky again.

God damn rookie mistake.......

Please feel free to poke fun at will...........

I am not going to poke fun at you bro. You have already gone through enough. Just make sure to find a better friend, or take your time on finding a place to store your 7. Good luck on putting everything back together.

Btw, as soon as your friend is not strapped for money, you should get some money back from him for his **** up.

Well I'm not going to drop names, because I'm gonna try to get some money still. And it'll be harder if he's all pissed, I don't wanna fight the guy. But if he ever tries to do business with any one I know I will toss in my two cents.

And no I couldn't leave it at my moms. She lives in chicago and I live here in the city with the higest gas prices.

Damn dude sorry to hear that, yeah you should get a new friend thats some whacked ****. If someone left theyre car with me, i would leave it in my garage and not touch it till he came back. You should definently get some money from that. I would be pissed and probably back up over the dude if he didnt pay up.

Thanks for not pointing out what a ******* ******** I was to leave to the 7 in someone else's hands. I know his money is not good right now, but I'll get what I can when I can. He claims that the guy who took his FD was only able to drive it for like a mile before it shut down and he just ditched it. Tommorrow I will see what's left when I go to the impound lot. I made it a point to be there to see what's left and see what I can take from it. Anything from his FD that will work on my FC I plan on taking.

I say it's time to return the favor...

his FD runs just fine correct? If so, you need to be driving that around til he fronts the $$ for repairs and lost goods. sorry to hear of what happened, my uncle ran into a similar incident a few years back with his 66 Mustang.

man, i honestly feel sorry for u dude, i know if my FC got fuked like this, i'll cry....

and if it was a FRIEND who did this... i'll cry and beat his *** and his car....

its just crazy that alot of this doesn't make sense... like him driving your T2, making all this **** up, saying his car was stolen and whatever,

i don't know if i am going crazy or not, but just from reading the story, it seems like this might have been intentional or something....

cuz freinds for 2 years usually is not like this (so i guess u had a legitimate reason to trust him)

I'm not sure how his FD runs yet. And I don't want **** from him except what is owed to me, and that is my FC in the shape it was. I'm not this cool headed most of the time but raw anger won't get me anywhere. If things get ugly I will have no choice but to do what I have to in order to make the situation right in my eyes.

Yeah two years is along time. A waste now.

Bro, that is toally F'd up, what kind of friend is he, Its his fault that you found it in the middle of nowhere. He shouldn't have been driving it in the first place. You better confort him and make his *** give you some $$ in return.

Over my protests, my buddy and neighbor M once left his car keys for a new car with me while he went out of town for a few days. He knew I'd never drive someone elses car unless the house was on fire. Forgot about them. Then my 18 yr old son A came to visit me, and one night stole Ms car with those keys, got drunk, crashed into another car in front of the police department. Etc., etc., etc. You can imagine the rest. Ruined my friendship with M (who, years later took an opportunity to screw me in a business deal we both happened to be in; I don't blame him, but it was childish). Contributed to As downhill spiral which ended in his death several years later.

Don't put temptation in front of the weak. It never works out. Weaklings only learn from deprivation and introspection. They alibi and self-delude themselves out of successive failures if they are allowed to continue.

Every one of us has to make judgements about the people around us. Those judgements are critical to our survival and prosperity. Thus, we should judge people on their true personal qualities, NOT the cut of their clothes, color of their skin, car that they drive, size of their fortune, etc. It's hard to do, we all want to make compromises just to be accepted by people whose flash we admire. But you will find some very attractive people who you must have the strength to shun, because that relationship will inevitably result in hardship. Sometimes it is lonely: you find you have rejected so many that you have few people to trust. Sometimes you're alone because the good people you need are shunning you, and then you have to cleanup your own act. This is the way human society works, for without society the human animal is doomed to extinction because he is weak of claw and fang and pathetically lacking even in protective fur.

This is really a sad story. Not so much because of your car, but because you thought you had a friend, and he turned out not to be.

Hopefully, you will get your car running again soon, and find a better set of friends.
