San Diego RX Club Cruise - January 10th
really wanted to make this one but i ended up doing the motorgen cruise, well half of it. there was about 50-60 cars but i was the only 7. a carbon fiber wide body 3rd gen showed up but had a turbo'ed V8 under the hood, but his battery died and had to get push started to go home. Anyway just didnt have gas today so I slept in..
Glad to see everyone out for the cruise, rotary and non-rotary, alike!
Really good to finally get this next cruise off and see new faces. Weather could not have been any better. Poo, ya gotta drag some more of those RX-8 guys out.
Jay and Tom, sorry you could not make it to Temecula with us for pizza. Maybe next time. Jay, hope the La Jolla Classic Car show was good.
Anyway ...
Great run and here are a couple of my pics.
Later,
John

ps,
For those of you who took pics of any kind, please send me some of you best ones. The higher resolution the better.

Couple of questons for you folks sitting on the side of I-15 southbound after the cruise ...
Ben,
What happened to the Porsche 944? Saw it sitting with the hood up. Did you guys get back OK?
Jim,
Saw you chatting with a CHP motorcycle guy. You didn't exactly "fly" by me going south, and the 3000GT looked pretty inocuous. What's up?

when we got to the pizza place john (porsche 944) parked too close to the sidewalk and scratched the front facia of the car so he backed up and without noticing he scrapped the engine oil cooler, the brackets holding the cooler are welded on so at the moment he backed up the brackets basically tore an opening on the cooler.
on the freeway the porsche lost half of the oil capacity and i got oil sprayed pretty bad too, had to tow the 944 home. took us about three hours to find a tow truck that would be willing to drive to el cajon, what a day indeed

Other than that it was really a good time, perfect weather. Me and (Steve?) the fellow in the mega clean red C5 'vert ended up getting stuck behind the crowd before turning on to Lilac road, or whatever that is. Not a big deal
I don't know about you guys but I thought the pizza at that place was really, really good! Thanks John for organizing the event, look forward to more in the future.
