Haha I'm 17, and I'm not one of those Initial D/FnF drifter fan boys.. Although I don't blame you for assuming that, just knowing that the majority of guys my age ARE. My friends are too, which is somewhat pathetic but I can't really change their views.

I'll admit that I was only introduced to RX-7s because of Initial D, back when it came out and when I really knew nothing about cars. Since getting my FC, I haven't rewatched any of those movies, just because I'd say my views resemble the views of most of the people here. That is to say, that I think it's completely reckless and uncool to be drifting in the streets and that drifting isn't faster around a track, although it doesn't make it any lesser of a skill to have if you can do it successfully on a track (during a drifting event, for instance).

I'm just trying to learn more about my car because it's just something I'm interested in. I would say that the fact that I spend hours a day on this forum to try to expand my knowledge would attest to it.

Sorry I fail the typical ricer/drifter stereotype...

I know where you're coming from, so no offense taken. It is my first car, and I'm pretty damn lucky and grateful that my parents bought me it. Sure, I live in a rich neighborhood (Carmel Valley) and go to a great school (Torrey Pines H.S.), and everyone's parents around here buy them $20-30k cars (there's a girl at my school with a DB9 ).. but I'm more than happy with what I have.

On my way home yesterday, I saw a red s4 NA, and the guy behind the wheel looked to be 50-60. I gave him a thumbs up, and he said, "Great" to me.. It felt good

In other words, you have the crappiest car there?

I had a buddy that went there a few years ago, drove a very clean 92 GST, it was considered the worst car in the parking lot by the students. I guess there was some car club there and it consisted of 16 year olds with Brabus'd benz's and Dinan M3's, and the like. Oh, there was one kid that had an STI, I think they only let him in because the car was new.

Nah, I'm sure most people would agree that my car's better than the few plain corollas and civics and random cars. And I consider it to be better than most of the cars in the lot... I'd take an FC over an RSX, Mustang, or GTI. And at my school, there are only a handful of cars that are modified beyond an exhaust. I guess times have changed.

So far no one has actually come up to me and said anything negative about my car. In my Auto shop class, I'd say that everyone pretty much respects each others' cars. I was actually surprised that a few people in my class knew it had a rotary engine (although they don't know how it works... I need to get that Rotary13B1 keychain to show them).

It was gratifying going to the GReddy Performance Festival and having a few people acknowledge your car for what it is.

Tell me about it... I must ashamedly admit I've already had one accident (no other cars involved... just my own stupidity in a turn) that has since been repaired. Live and learn...

It was $6500, 192k on the odometer, 30k on the rebuilt JDM motor (no documentation but the smog tech did say this wasn't the original engine). Pricey if it was stock, but I added up the modifications done to it (that I wanted to do myself after I got my car anyway) and that's what convinced me. Although now I'd appreciate a bone stock car so I'm not constantly learning new things about the parts that were installed (and how they were installed).

To answer a question you asked earlier, my car is the black s5 TII parked next to RedX7's red FD.

6.5 o.o that's a lot! but then I noticed it's t2. but it's still pretty pricy. what did you hit in your accident? I fixed my own bumper and you can't even tell the previous owner had a crash there.

I went too fast into a 90 degree right hand turn... understeered and hit the curb. Broke my driver side front wheel, lower driver side control arm, and the rack and pinion too. Even after an alignment and replacing the control arm, wheel, and rack and pinion... it's still not the same as it was before.

Cost over $600 for parts and labor for new control arm and rack and pinion. $800 for a set of new wheels shipped from Japan (exact same wheels, just different offset..)

True but if I just wanted a set of wheels to drive on, I would get a set of stock TII wheels from the forum. The wheels I have right now are rare: they were made by Stern for BBS in the 1990s, and it took me quite a while to simply find out what they were. Obviously discontinued, and I've seen them sold for $1500 a set.

hahahahaha. you should have seen some of the cars that were given for 16th bdays when i went there.

i recall a couple ferrarris and some lotus' and at least one lambo. tons of benzs and bimmers. it was ridiculous. i think some of the worst cars that were given to kids were the old muscle cars. i had a buddy go through like 4 classics in the span of a couple years.

i knew a girl with a cherry 55 ford truck she wrapped it around a fire hydrant it was a total loss and she was given a new 7 series.

Yeah there's a ton of bimmers, a handful of benzs. No ferraris or lambos or lotus though, although I did see a Murcielago driving through the student parking lot once (but never see it in the actual lot... so go figure). I remember a time when I would actually be excited to see an exotic car on the road. The other day I saw a Carrera GT and just thought, "Meh. Sounds nice."
