San Diego Cruise - 11/18

San Diego - Next Drive on Saturday, November 18th

I know it is a little ways away, but mark your calendars for this date
to check out San Diego county in the fall. The drive might be a repeat of
the desert run, or, perhaps, one of the Lyons Valley or Old Hwy 80 runs.
Details are TBD.

Pics from the desert run.

Any questions, drop me a note.

Davin,

If you want a rough idea of where we might go , check the following links.
Last drive through the desert:
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm

Old Hwy 80 route:
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/H80_06021...ew-Profile.htm

I will work on it partly this weekend and figure out some details. Perhaps even make a final decision.

Later,
John

The details for this next drive have been settled. We have decided to re-run the Up 'n Over drive from June. The Fall weather should be much nicer. Check the link below for details.
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm

If you have any questions, drop me a line.

The run is open to all - rotarheads and pistonheads. If you kike to drive, join us.

See you in a couple of weeks.
John

Just want to remind everyone about the San Diego drive this saturday. Have not heard or seen too much chatter so do not know who is planning to attend. Here is the link to the latest information.
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm
Nothing has changed. Everything is still a "GO".

Julian is expected to be in the mid 60's. Ocotillo (desert) is expected to be in the mid to slightly higher 80's. Was hoping for cooler weather in the desert, but this is much better than last June and upper 90's to low100's!.

Still, for anyone going, make sure you check you car out. If you have any doubts, volunteer to be a passenger with someone. It can be very enlightening from that perspective.

The favor of a reply is appreciated in order to gauge interest. Send me an e-mail or post here for all to know.

See ya'll on Saturday,
John

ps,

Mel,
- Blow that money; buy the tires you want!

Davin,
- Don't worry if your car won't make it. See if you can be a passenger. Perhaps someone lives near you and can pick you up. Or, if you have another vehicle and can get to the start, you can still ride along.

Good to have you. This run has been set for this Saturday since before SevenStock. There was no noubt about it happening. An now we are just about here.

At the north end of Julian, look for a blue '86 sport. Michele will be joining us. We depart Pine Valley at 0945. Be in Julian by 1015.

See ya Satruday.

All right, Mel! Some nice tires to keep you going for a while.

Have new tires, will travel. You've got a couple of days to get comfortable with them, then you'll be ready to go.

Talked to Jim (1990gtx) and he was surprised not too many have responded. We figured the next couple of days would draw more.

For those of you without a car for whatever reason, considering asking to ride shotgun. A couple of us will be taking passengers.

You don't have to be a rotorhead to go. Pass the word!

John

I want to go, since I have to meet up with Mel for something. I'll be flushing my radiator fluids and replacing my thermostat at 0900. Hopefully I can be there in time. How do I get there from Clairemont Blvd.

Check the map referenced in prior posts. Link provided below.
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm

Just hit the Google Maps link that shows up and select "Get Directions" to put your starting point in. Pine Valley is about 50 mi. from hy house near UTC. Probably about 43 mi from Clairemont area.

We plan on departing at 0945, so you will have to move fast to be there.

Any way you can, get on I-8, heading east from El Cajon. Keep going until you reach the Pine Valley exit. Go north / LEFT. At the "T", go east / RIGHT. 100 yds or so down is Major's on the LEFT.

If we are not behind Major's Diner, then head east to Sunrise Hwy and got north / LEFT. You might find us at a stop along the way. If not, go al the way to the north side of Julian, just past the major intersection on the north end of town. From the Googla Maps link, just zoom out to get your bearings.

Hope to see ya there,
John

Hey Tom,

Thanks for posting the pics and video from the drive. Got some nice shots in the bunch! Looks like you were up pretty early working on this.

Mind if I "steal" a couple of the shots to post on the crlub drives site? Just like ususl, I will probably doctor a bit, but you'll get credit.

BTW, about 2/3's into the video, what was that little shriek? Did someone get a little out of shape comming down Banner Grade?
;- )
