I heard, that the first gen is better at turns then 2nd gen and 3rd.?

Nonsense? How many RX-7s' are on their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th engines? Go thumb through an autotrader, ebay, craigslist, etc and see how many are still on their original engine?

Outside of changing the oil every 3k miles on your average piston engine, you're good to go for many thousands of miles.

How old are the Rx-7's and how many miles on them?

Your looking at vehicles that are from 16-29 years old.

Maintenance is maintenance.

What excess maintenance does a Rotary engine need?

The scheduled maintenance for a "Rotary" powered and a "Piston" engine are the same.

There are a lot more "Piston" engines in production than "Rotary" engines, so how can you even compare the percentages?

Me thinks he's speaking of 300k on the engine? Just a thought.

I've seen 400k (gsl-se) and still going strong.

One thing I will concede to. A rotary is not as forgiving as to overheating abuse as a piston. But, if you keep on top of the cooling system and keep regular oil changes, I suggest they'll last just as long as a comparable piston set up (turbo vs turbo, N/A vs N/A)

Normal should be about ~180* F

I would start backing off at about 215-220* to be safe, although I've seen people go higher.

thanks anjew ya the needle rose just above 210, but the temp guage in the car read half. wierd. thats good to know tho
