Question for Hawaii RX owners

I am moving to Oahu in a few months and a had a few quick questions about vehicle registration/inspection/transportation.

1 - Transportation,
Have any of you had your vehicles transported out to the island? If so... do you know of any good transportation companies?

2 - Registration and Inspection,
I am sure I will need to get new registration and inspection upon arrival, yes? For the inspection, is there an emissions test? My car runs pig rich because of the turbo, and also throws a CEL because of that... so if there is an emissions test during the inspection, i'm pretty much f'd. The lack of a cat also does not help.
I was considering an O2 sim, and creating a second and much leaner map to get it to become emissions friendly... also purchasing a cat, and installing it for the inspection. In which case, what AFR should i shoot for, in order to get it legal?

Also, how much is registration and inspection?

Thanks for the info.

No emmisions, just a safety inspection. Just make sure all your signals and lights work, it's not too loud, and the car looks pretty stock and you should be fine. But I don't know what the standards are for cars being shipped in. I'm assuming they are the same as on island cars.Registration will probably cost you over $100, not sure if there any more fees with cars being shipped in.

EXCELLENT, that is music to my ears.
The car looks normal from the outside, its just when you pop the engine bay that you start to see whats going on. For a race-pipe and cat-back its actually really quiet. Its even quieter than most cars with just a aftemarket tip welded on.

No, but there is only ONE company (well, maybe two now - Pasha) that does all the shipping (Young Brothers), so everyone else is just a third-party vendor.
I think it's about $150 one-way?
Do you plan on doing this a lot?
Cross your fingers the Superferry gets going, as it's something like $69 one-way for your vehicle.

There is no emissions testing.
There is safety check - any safety check station (most gas / service stations are) will be able to issue one for you.
$20 is typical fee - they will check your tint darkness, as it's a big deal here.
If your car looks anything outside of stock, some places will balk and tell you to get a "reconstruction sticker" - this is only for the island of Oahu.
Safety checks need to be renewed every year.

Registration taxes are climbing, and your car would be about $150 for a year at the current rates.
