purchasing a t2

So i am in the market for a T2,

one of the things that is mentioned that is wrong with it is that the rear rotor has slightly low compression so the engine floods from time to time. i guess i wanted to know you guys' opinion what you would pay for the car and if the low copression issue will turn out bigger along the road. here is the details of the ad.

i want to see the car in person of-course but dont want to take a trip if its not worh it. other than the compression i dont think the other issues are that bad.

any input?

RX7 FC S4 Turbo 2
Year:1987
Miles:200,488
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Exterior Color: Arctic Silver
Interior Color: Blue
Title: Clean
Price:$3,300 OBO

Upgrades/modifications:
Alpine stereo
Blitz B.O.V
Racing Beat Exhaust
Tein Type Flex Coilovers
HKS Turbo Timer
Boost Gauge
9 pounds of boost

Cons:
Seats are a bit torn
Paint is fading. Dog scratches by driver side door.
Tachometer works sometimes. Rear rotor has low compression causing engine to flood when shut down.
Fifth gear grinds
Dent on passenger side rear panel
Sunroof is off track but does not leak.
No P/S

I say from $1000 to $1300. It already has 200k miles on the car. Might as well rebuild the engine, change the bushings and all of that. 5th gear grinds, rebuild it or get another tranny. To me it seems this would be like buying a shell.

The owner was asking for low compression with no fuel management, unrestricted exhaust and stock un-ported wastegate. I'm assuming there's some kind of FCD in it to achieve that 9lbs of boost.

Also, the interior isn't well maintained and the exterior is going to need lots of work.

I would stay away. For 3000 to 3,500 you can get a much better t2.

If it's your first T2, it'll probably be best to get one that's unaltered.

You'll spend more up front - but you'll have less headaches and pressure whilst becoming familiar with it.

Is this the car on the inland empire craigslist? There was a t2 that was a lot cleaner a couple of weeks ago that was built by renown racing.

thats what i am hoping for. i found some in LA with a practically mint t2 im trying to get at. just need a little more monies. but i would rather give the money to someone on the forum that is reputable. and has a decent t2. im not looking for anything picture perfect. just clean and well kept.

yea i think so. Anaheim or something, but i gave up on that guy.

found this one too.

"hi i got a 87 rx7 turbo ll up 4 sale i just had a eng n trans from japan intalled runs good but i believe it needs a fuel pres regulator it has up grade injectors racing fuel pump rims body kit lower exsaust turbo upgrade to a t4 i pu lots a money inn to it so its up for sale 4,000 obo or trage for a chevy truck 2000 n up call or text only "

, its a nasty orange color with purple flames from the hood. says it just needs fpr. but i suspect that with the it might have a few other issues. its flooding and he claims the fpr will fix the issue. but given the upgraded injectors and fuel pump and exhaust thats probably the reason. maybe a revert back to stock parts would keep it running. i spoke to him over the phone. he hasnt registered it in two years and did not put it on non op so i would have to pay back fees lazy *** people. not to mention the unmentionable smogging

the whole jdm engine thing you could pass smog with one as long as you have the usdm emissions on it (since our motors are like the gay hondas in the way they arent stamped any different)

ive been thinking about purchasing a jdm turbo motor and tranny. they are about $1300 - $1500, they claim good compression and what not but to be on the safe side i guess i would have it rebuilt. with some mods i guess. drop it in the N/A after i give it some cosmetic love. ugh. decisions decisions.

Just get a running or blown legit turboII. You already have all the parts and just need a rebuild or a repair.

Bunta, find a solid NA, get all you need to swap in a TII. It's the route I went and never have been happier.
