Pulling hair out/Confused! In need of advice!!

Okay I'm in the market for an S5 or S4 T2 and I don't know where to buy it from. I can not find one local. I've been looking at JDM imported motors but scared of getting a crappy motor. I'm on a tight budget and can't afford to put money out and end up needing a rebuild in 2 thousand miles. Rebuild kits aren't cheap. Has anyone else had to deal with this? What would you do?

Background.
I have a gsl se. She's pushing 185k and getting tired. I want to do the swap for more power. The car will be going to a ref and be smogged.

i say liquidize everything you own and then go to las vegas and bet it all on a black jack hand, and if you win you can buy a rebuild kit and whatever else you want

Look dude, The first mistake you made being on a "budget build" was buying a rotary in the first place....Their Money pits~! Save your cash and rebuild the motor you have. rebuild kits are 1200 ish dollars and if yours is still running your in better business doin it.....Or you can save up another 400 ish dollars on top and buy a motor from japan2la or lucky7. They are reputable shops and your money is better spend with a company with a reputation.

My budget is 2k, 2.5k max. I don't want to rebuild my 13b right now. I'm alsI on the quest for power and all my research lead me to the S5T2. I am confident in my ability to complete the swap correctly in order to pass all requirements required by B.A.R. I ask j2la and he quoted me 2.5k I pmd him to see if there was any wiggle room in the price and never heard anything back. I search Craigslist daily and can not find what I'm looking for anywhere, not even to peice everything together. I'm also on this form daily and believe it or not there is not one here either. So my only Opions now are Lucky (which I'm goin to pm after this) eBay or JDMSOURCE. Both eBay and jdm have complete motors and trans for under 1500. Ive read that any motor that is jdm needs to be rebuilt because the gaskets are shot because they have just been sitting. (Can anyone comment on that?) so I'm kinda in a pickle and I'm itching to get the swap moving but I can't do squat with no motor.

Worse Thing you can do man is to be picky finding an RX7. I bought a Salvage title S5 TII for $650.00 with the Rear end damage only. PURE STOCK TII with 103k miles. This was before the D1GP boom in 2003.

she was on the road in 2 months

My advice, If you cant buy from a reputable shop...Dont buy it at all.....DO NOT BUY a motor from ebay ....because i dont want to read your "HELP ME MY MOTORS JUNK" thread that will surely come......Save up the cash and buy something everypenny your paying for....If you dont have the cash, get a job, if you dont have a job, visit ur local sperm bank...They always take donations!

My JDM S5 turbo runs, smokes at cold start and I wouldn't want to push it hard. It will be a good core...someday. For now it's in my backup/emergency car while a rebuilt motor is in the works. In other words JDM is not ment to be a permanent solution...... in my opinion. In average I spend $1000.00 per car per year in maintenance(maintenance only). Think about it I have three.

Where did you order your motor from? I think my plan is to order a motor disassemble upon receiving and go from there. Worst case I'm out for a o ring kit and gasket set.

Still haven't heard anything from him so I have to explore another option.

What is the compression on the motor? Is there a way to send me a video? And does 1895 include all the goodies like this....

Is funny how all these guys talk **** about budget builds but im all for them lol.everything is possible and from my experience working on friends cars is that anyone that owns a rotary iz fucken broke or on a budget.if you are mechanically inclined like me and have skills man go for it.if you do decide on a Jdm motor,I will tell you this....the engine harness and computer won't work unless you have a diagram for that jdm ecu.your best bet is get a jdm engine and trans then get a usdm engine harness and ecu.you definitely need a back up car cause your rotary might sit a for a while.when all said and done everyone is going to be asking you how you did it....and you can reply with the same answers they gave you.I really do understand now why all this engine builders(well most of them) don't give up info..its because it took them a long time to learn and they want everyone else to go through what they went through.its a learning process thats for sure, and a lot of things can go wrong when boosting a engine.

Don't worry about wacky papi..(siraniko).pm him for smog services...as any car passes with flying colors through him lol...JK....

I struggled to learn this stuff and I have thought a few what I know and now they do what I do....its all good as long as the rotary lives...

I mistakenly included TII DIFF , 1/2 shafts, TII D-shaft.

Engine swap is $1895.00

100% complete longblock with uncut jdm harness and ecu, TII trans and starter

^ This is what is included, nothing more

I have other parts that you may or may not need but they are extra:

Turbo inlet duct
BPS sensor
D-shaft
AFM sensor
Oil cooler
oil cooler lines
Downpipe
Fuel pump
TII Diff
1/2 Shafts
