I'd like to say thanks for all the SS events I been able to attend and wouldn't like to see it disappear. And it's the memories that really matter. Now who can all remember the SS where it rained so hard we all had to hide in our cars? Those were some good times. Everyone drying and detailing their cars for that showroom shine right after, the pride of a rotary owner. Can't wait to see what's planned for the future.

Thanks for the updates, Bern and Rotary13B1. I've always enjoyed Sevenstock shows, and it's sad to hear that Mazda may not be helping out this year. Personally, my favorite part of the show has been the technical discussions by Racing Beat, SpeedSource, Pineapple Racing, Atkins Rotary, Knightsports, and especially the Mazdaspeed and Mazda factory teams. Last year's setup with Atkins assembling engines all day was a great idea, I really appreciate that you guys made that happen.
If it's not possible to use the same location as last year, I think it's a great idea to just get a bunch of cars together at one of the large beach parking lots and have a BBQ or hang out near the fire pits. Someone name a day and I suspect there will be a large turnout.
If people want to autocross, drag race, or go to a track day in 2011 with such late notice... it might be easiest to simply plan for a large group of RX owners to participate at a regular event along with all the other cars. There is an autocross scheduled for September 25th (Sunday) at the California Speedway in Fontana. I'm not familiar with the drag strip's schedule , but there's a decent chance it may be open that weekend also.

No it's not Turbo'd
Why not charge $20 and get a free T-Shirt as part of your entrance price, that way you're sure to sell a bunch, and not get left with people not buying them... I Usually end up buying one or more, but I also usually complain about the designs :P I know multiple runs for 1'st 2'nd and 3'rd gen & old school T-Shirts would be costly to print, but for my $$ I'd buy 3-4 if I could get one with an FD on it, since they're in short supply these days... and some of my D1, Veilside FD shirts and stuff have seen better Days...
I do agree that the more Seven Stocks I go to the less long I stay, mainly because it's a lot of the same people year after year, that doesn't make it boring but makes it more of a social gathering, than an enthusiast' meeting. But like people said it's not HIN (Thank God) so I'm happy for that.... It's still an awesome event, and like anything it could be better, but like anything it could be a lot worse....

Bern, thanks for chiming in and giving us the inside scoop on the show. Kinda funny that Mazda doesnt wan't us to go zoom-zoom! From what I've read, the issue isnt really a lack of money, correct but more of a red tape issue with the suits?
If money is part of the problem/solution for a better show experience, can you get away with accepting a "$20 donation" per car from the people who want to park inside the show? Maybe this donation can entitle the donor to $20 worth of raffle tickets, or an event shirt, or a lunch ticket or two just for donating? Maybe you guys can get some sweet Sevenstock stickers made for people that donate? Something like the Cars & Coffee or JCCS stickers people put on their cars. I dont know how a non-profit organization really works so these things may not be possible but they may help some of you think of new ways to get people to make donations.
Keep up the awesome work and I hope everything keeps falling into place so the show can continue to give the city of Irvine a smog cloud that rivals that of L.A.s every year

How about point a paypal donation button on the sevenstock website as I don't think there is as much an issue of people willing to donate but a place to do it.

It isn't all about the 7s anymore, and has not been for a while. It is a social gathering for rotary enthusiasts, so it should be rebranded. IMHO, something like RotaryStock.

Not even news on an official unofficial sevenstock? I mean it's a little under two months before it is usually scheduled. I'd hate to say it but I think it might be time to start planning something for a different location if Mazda isn't going to host it.

7stock at mazda hq has been canceled this year until further notice. Tge good thing, there will be a picnic at frank bonelli park near raging waters in san dimas. Mazda will pick up the tab for charcoal and meat. For those who remember britney look.a.like from SS5, she will be there in same outfit

That was only because Mazda decided rather than call it a re-introduction of the RX7 they decided to call it the RX8. So the 7 was dropped so it could be more all encompasing. In retrospec it's too bad they didn't as the way things are looking it doesn't look like a so named RX7 will be reintroduced anytime in the near future. I sure hope I'm wrong..............

I'm getting tired of seeing Wacky's old ugly face each year. WE NEED A WET T CONTEST or something. I think they should have it at California speedway. That way you can road race, drift, drag race and have a show. Charge 20 bucks or so to cover the day. Oh and don't forget the wet T contest, or at least a bikini contest for crying out loud. You should see the events on the east coast- puts our little get togethers to shame.
