Phoenix, AZ... yey or ney

Thoughts? Chandler in particular.

Hows the area? What is there to do other than melt in the summer and freeze in the winter?

Freeze in the winter? In the 6 years I have lived here I had to scrape my windshield 3 times and my drivers license was more than robust enough to do it. Last year we had a record breaking cold night that killed lots of plants, I think it was 29 degrees it got down to.

I like living here because of the great proximity to everything! If I want ocean its 5-6 hours to San Diego, or 3 hours to Rocky Point. If a lake is ok there are several within an hour where you can water ski or do just about anything else. If I want mountains its an hour to Payson, 2-3 to Flagstaff, or 7 to Durango. Plus there are some smaller mountains all around and in town. If I want to fly somewhere we are home to US Airways and SouthWest Air, both have great prices and can get me anywhere direct.

The only down side is the summer heat. Thats ok though, I go from house with A/C, to car with A/C, to office with A/C and I have a pool to jump in while doing summer yard work. Its never really a problem.

Cool Waysho... are you seriously considering AZ. I have the CYM from AZ and I've spoken with you and Teddy at several past Sevenstock events. We'd love to have another Gen 3 in town hanging out with us on weekends and monthly drives. Hope you give it serious consideration.

az is awesome. the only thing you'll miss is the nearby ocean. the heat is intense sometimes but managable if you have a/c. the winters arent cold at all compared to some other areas. chandler is a really nice neighborhood, most of the area is too except for some phoenix areas. Im down for some meets too. i dont have a rotary anymore (gotta bimmer!) but i still love rotaries, it be nice to get a meet at firebird raceway.

I never liked Arizona. I'd rather move up North.

Your first summer will be a eye opener but you will get used to it. The rest of the year is perfect. If you are into outdoor sports, AZ is great for that. In AZ, it is possbile to ride a motorcycle year round, which I do. The roads here are glass smooth.

I lived in California for about ten years, when I moved back to Arizona, I missed the ocean and that was about it. I don't miss Cali at all now.

Imagine your car breaking down on the highway in 120 degree temps. Then you will hate Arizona.

It isn't 120 all year round...there are 3 months of lots of heat, the rest is gravy.

Imagine your car breaking down in an ice storm when it is raining on you and 28 degrees (my personal worst weather) or in Minnesota where it is -10 wind chill for two months a year.

I mean don't you get bored in Ventura...or Oxnard...or wherever you are in Ventura county? I mean it is like 60 degrees in winter and 70 degrees in summer... Well unless you are a little inland, like Thousand Oaks or something, it gets a little warmer there. My girlfriend is from Oxnard and I got her to move out here. She likes it here now because it is easy to get around and cheap to live here. Only thing she misses is the ocean, but asked her how many times she actually got out surfing in the last two years and she could count them on one hand....I have actually been surfing more than her in those two years and I have lived here...lol. anyway...I like it here, but that is not to say there aren't better places.

Ventura is very nice. One of my best friends lives in Santa Barbara. I love it there

Anyway, Phoenix is a great place to live if you can tollerate the heat in the summer, and even if you can't. I am so used to it that it doesn't phase me in the slightest. Only time it is painful is getting into a black on black car after it has been sitting in the sun for 6 hours.
