I got a friend who does paint but can only do parts and not a full car so if its only something like the front end or bumpers things that can be removed he can paint he might be able to do a full car if he has room he is sac local or you could always hit junpower up for paint in the bay

Its currently at evil genius getting a fresh rebuild so the motor is out. I was hoping to stay around the 1500 area. Hopefully having the engine out will save me some money.

well ended up getting a paint job by a macco (or however you say it) company. talked the guy down and i ended up just down 2 sprays of color and an integrated clear coat which is pretty cheap but it should hold up for now until i can get 8 grand saved up for a real paint job. work was smooth for 1500 and paint looks... well like 1500 not bad though.

Agree 100% ... I just didn't have 8000 dollars (plus or minus a few thousand) to spare because of my rebuild at this point in time. I figured Someone could benefit from my experience

I will however get one of those 8k paint jobs ... one day lol

8k is pushing it unless you are getting 50+ hours of body work and a 3 stage paint job. I think 2k-4k is reasonable these days for quality work

That's exactly what I had initially thought, but when I called around (7 shops or so) they explained to me that in order to even shoot the same color of paint they would need to disassemble the car completely sand blast it etc hence the 8 K plus or minus a few thousand. Now perhaps your referring to a paint job that perhaps a forum member can do, in such case I agree again. I have seen some good work on here. This is just the rout I decided to go and perhaps someone can learn from it.
