is there a way you can put a plastic cover over the engine, like all the new cars have?
like make it look stock to pass the visual test (which is so ghey...if it passes smog, then who cares what it looks like)
EDIT: like this:
it was the first car i thought of that had a cover thing

You are going to have to bribe someone.
Given that it's a single turbo, it most likely has all the emissions equipment removed and you wouldn't have a chance in hell of passing the sniffer test anyway, let alone the visual.
Perhaps you should rethink your purchase if the idea of bribing a smog shop doesn't work for you.

In California the seller must provide smog cert. Unless it is being sold as an off road vehicle. You can sue them in civil court for cost of smog reapirs if the vehicle desn't pass. They can have an agrement saying it's your responsibility to get it smog but they would loose in court.

but notice how i didn't mention emissions? i just said the visual part of inspection, because they won't even do the emission part without passing the visual...read things before you start to flame people who are being nice and trying to help
and why won't a BC work?

Neither a stock cat or high flow cat will work. Nor a boost controller? Why? Because the car will be driven on a roller dyno @ 15 and 25 mph on a light load and boost isn't affected. If you have *any* chance to pass smog w/ a single turbo setup and exclude the visual part of the test, you'll have to do so by leaning the car out w/ whatever EMS you're running.

ditto
it just wastes people's time, those who actually don't know any better.
an engine cover will not fool any smog tech. how do i know? because i've been working on cars for how long you've been alive.
ok, i think he's learned his lesson.
