Yea it's the new 06' Mx5 not the mazdaspeed. Although the mazdaspeed one is nice, the new one is supposed to handle better than that and they bumped the stock power up to 160

Yeah I kinda wish it was the Mazdaspeed edition, when that came out I actually really wanted to get one. Plus itd be the first turboed car I've ever driven.
But then again I do enjoy my NA power so I'm not complaining (much). Yeah I think I'll call the "Program HQ" tomorrow and find out how the RX-8 session sign up works (thats kind of a big selling point on this thing for me).

How long does it take you to get to SF from Stockton? (Don't want to make you have to get up too early or anything)
usually takes me an hour or two to get to sf depending on how much traffic is in tracy, livermore, dublin, etc.... let me know about the 8 session though, i wouldnt mind beating one up, even though i dont get paid for it this time. although i think the miata is a more rewarding drive than the 8. the rx-8 is just too compromised to make for a serious sports car, stock anyway. btw, the new miata is supposed to have 170 hp from the 2.0 LF series engine also found in the base model mazda 3. good engine, smooth revving with decent power figures. should make for an interesting drive, although i'm a little skeptical of the standard abs and electronic brake distribution and a couple of other electronic driving "aids".

ask 10 people to define "sports car" and you'll come up with 10 different definitions

I would be interested to see how the new Miata handles. The RX-8 needs a couple hundred less pounds and 35-40 more hp.

I'm the friend that 1984special speaks of. In spite of the mild RX-8 hate, I'd like to bring my lovely white example up if that's alright with the rest of you. The FB is currently in the middle of a major transplant...

i know and that's the sad part. but my idea of what a sports car is the miata. small, light weight, fun to drive, etc.... there is no doubt in the world that the miata is the quintessential modern sports car. other "sports cars" will always have people arguing about whether they are sports cars or GT machines.

Please bring your Rx8! I want a ride I've never been in or even close enough to one to appreciate all it's glory. We don't hate on eights, so come on out.

yea, bring the 8. even though i see them everyday, cant really get tired of curvaceous looking fenders. [] its not that we hate rx-8s, we just understand the weaknesses of it. i for one would love to see an 8 well tuned and participating in track and drift events.

Yeah, none of us hate on the RX-8. Any rotary vehicle is always welcome. And as far as drifting being just looks and nothing else... That is a subject of MUCH debate. But not worth arguing on the internet. That's something that I hope we'll get a chance to discuss at a future meet when I get back in town.

well let's see, hmmm, the one time I wanted to go to one of the autocross events my turbo was going out. (which ended in a complete turbo replacement). Then I didn't sign up for any autocross meets because it doesn't interest me. Ohhh, almost forgot, did make one of the autocross events as Ben, Zach, and Berry as my witness! I just rode with my friend Kevin.
