Noob Introduction:

Hello guys, I would like to formally introduce myself.. My name is Walter and I recently aquired and 1985 Mazda rx7 GSL or gsl-SE.. I acquired this through my Cousin who was the original owner when it first came out in 1985. He tells me its a gsl-SE but then again he's almost 50 yrs old so maybe his memory is bad.. Well here's some pics of my newly acquired baby... I know its a long way till she's up and running but to me its a beauty.. Like they say, One man's trash is another man's treasure.

HOLY SHITBOX BATMAN!

Just kidding Congrats on joining the club. It looks like your car has a fair amount of rust. Be sure to fully inspect it to make sure it hasn't gone through any critical areas before dumping money into it

yea i looked at the pic, it doesnt look like a 1st gen front bumper, but it could be an option, from what i know of, some 1st gens came with body kits optional!

it looks like a REALLY beat up and broken "pacific kit"

and welcome. you have a very long expensive project ahead of you. all that rust is going to be a tough thing to get rid of

and for the record the easiest way to tell if you have an gsl-se or just a gsl is look at the motor. is if fuel injected or carburated?

Not a GSL-SE bro it may be "GS" or "GSL"...the rims them self give it way that it is not a GSL-SE...The gsl-se never came with 13 inch rims and in that style...The gsl-se came in 14's...The front bumper is aftermarket from Mazda trix...You do need a lot of work...Do us a favor and take pics of the engine bay, under the hood, the color code, the vin, and the door jam...This will help us help you find the correct year and model to this car... and a little history on the car...great catch, and good luck...
