Does anyone know if they ever found the Fast and Furious original blue R34?

And why would they want to swap in a VW Beetle engine into the rear of the R34 for the scene?

Probably to lighten the front... haven't seen the movie, but "staircase scene" sounds like some screwy balance would be needed.
