well... I always told myself to never get a car that would just sit and that I should push past my comfort zone... I guess I went overboard... got overconfident...
what happened in a nut shell
I overtook mike & ashley, and a durango (or suburban I don't remember), and tried to catch up with the next group of cars (carlos and others).
At a certain point I did catch up and was now almost tailgating Carlos. I was getting impatient and wanted to speed up. At a particular turn I sped up and decided the take the outside line of the turn. I got a little sideways and saw an oncoming car. I freaked out and didn't want to drift into the other lane and hit the other car so I quickly countered, but over compensated.
I spun out and tried to recovered, but it was too late. I was rolling off the cliff. It felt like a was falling for an least a min. The world did spin and even went upside down. Before I finally stopped the car teetered for a min before landing on all 4 wheels and being stopped by a tree. According to CHP it was a 50 foot drop... I'm lucky to walk away. I'm also lucky I hit a tree. I could've rolled another 50 feet into a ravine full of sharp rocks...
From there it was the hospital and an EMT had the nerve to ask if my car was a civic hatchback
Mike and I were in the hospital until 3am... that sucked!! but the past few days i've been drugged up so I'm doing good!

Bottom line is this- Eileen I noticed your **** tires at the stop before you wiped out. That on top of your stock suspension and unsafe driving almost cost you your life. I hope you learned your lesson. Everyone was cruising through that part for a reason, yet you insisted on passing people on a 2 lane road with curves and dips. That wasn't cool. What if you would have hit someone in another car?
^ well... I did learn my lesson, it's not like I enjoy limping around and popping pills. It sucks not to see my car in my parking space, it's not cool browsing for a the right car in my budget. No need to remind me, I'm very well aware of my stupid decision. I'm grateful to walk away and for your help. Can't take back what's already been done, all I can do is learn from it.
The 7 is on the way back to the apt. now. Getting to the tow shop's storage yard was more twisty than the Lake Berryessa cruise itself.
Tow truck driver showed up late yesterday, so it went to another storage yard overnight, and towed it out this morning.

Well I wasn't cruising that part or any part of the trip. That road was way too fun to drive the speed limit.

I do agree with the part about not cruising... I passed up everybody I came across so I could floor it. At one point I was doing 120 then down to third to take some turns and right back to fourth.
glad to hear you guys all had fun... besides Eileen. i was kinda worried no one was?!? I didnt wanna be a boring host or anything. Im ready for the next one too. Whos hosting next?
