new used beater....
so...considering the thread on most commonly stolen vehicles, i became a victim last month. my EG civic 3dr got stripped like a bachelor party. only thing left was unibody up front (fenders, CF hood, stock bumper with air dam, stock lights, engine, suspesion, brakes (spoon 4pot), dash, steering wheel, radio, front seats and both doors), carpet and rear seats.
Wondering what to get next. tired of FF, want a light weight car comparable to my civic that is just as fun to drive...even better, maybe. so, the only lightweight cars that are FR that i know and can afford (below $6k) are the AE86 GT-S and NA8 Miata.
'85 AE86- supposedly the best handling lightweight small block japanese import EVAR!! 1.6L, 27mpg, 151,xxx miles, FR but AC needs recharging. body is straight w/o rust. but with inflation, Formula Drift/D1 and Initial D taxes these car prices have gone insane. but i did find one local to me in OC for less than $3k...
'94 NA8- 1.8L, hard top avail w/ heat element, 71k miles, body is immaculate, FR and weighs 2100lbs! this one is $4,500 though.
wondering which way to go for a daily driver. Love the flip lights and both of them have it. Help me out guys.

Madza, Racing Beat, Flying Miata, etc., offer some good parts for the miata and they're great track, autoX, drift, cars. And are fun as hell to drive! I don't know to many things about the hachi though. Good luck!

The AE86 is a great car as well. They are a blast to drive, but a little under pwoered. The only thing is that they are being targeted now pretty hard because of the intial D crap. The theft rate of these cars is also on the rise because people are picking up cheap SR5's and stripping the stolen GTS for the swap. Just beware of that. But I love the style and driving feel of the 86. I've never driven a Miata, but I can't imagine it being much better. Plus you dont' get a hatchback and room for 4.
