Needing a new engine for my 83

Hi. I have a 1983 RX7 in prestine condition that is needing a new engine. The engine performs and runs excellent with no modification. It is completely stock and have been using it as a daily driver for about three years. I am to the point where it needs a new engine as it is leaking oil out of the side of the engine in between the rotor housings.

I live in San Diego- 92126 and wondered if anyone that might see this post knows where I should begin my search in looking for a new powerplant.

I know there are many avenues to approach. I have seen various sites and pondered a V8 swap or perhaps a new engine with a turbo setup, or even the 13b instead of the 12a. That is something I might be interested in if the price didn't get too astronomical. Any suggestions there??

If there is anyone that has any information or perhaps might be close and would want money for the install and could help I am willing to pay the bucks. I would like to see a rotorhead put it in Vs. a mechanic not rotary enclined.

Let me know.

Many thanks in advance.

Mark

Engine leak

Napa has a aerosol leak repair made by permatex called form-a-seal. I would recommend cleaning off the area that is leaking and follow the instructions on the
can and see if it works. It is supposed to work it's way into the opening and reseal. Worth a try for around $5-$6.
If it doesn't work then start looking for a engine.
Since you are in a enchanced smog area changing engines to something like a 13b
will require alot of work to keep it smog legal when it's time to take it in.
Which means that you would need to run the harness and have it set up for FI.
If your willing to go thru all that work than you can use anything from a SE motor to a S5, turbo or N/A.
Inbetween smogs you can run carb'd or anything you want to. rx7doctor
