my weekend at buttonwillow... not in my fc... but fun nonetheless!!

tada!!

this was at buttonwillow raceway, it had rained lightly during the day, but it was still a blast... we ran configuration 13 on day one and config. 1 on day 2

as youc an see from my tires, i did go off a couple times... namely my last two runs of the second day, hehe...

the first time i was giving a ride-along and i went in a little too hot in the bus stop, realized i wasn't going to make it and just straightened out and went clean off the track... the entire 2 days i had been flying through the bus stop, just using awd to go a little sideways and shoot out of the corner (i was actually making a lot of time on peeps there)... but that last time, just went in too hot... hehe

the second time i was coming out of the off-ramp and my car stuttered HARD, like it cut MAJOR power/fuel/whatever... so i was like crap!! i look down, and i notice my gas light is on... OH, i must be running out of fuel and going around the corner must have starved the motor for a second... ok... so i look up and i'm in my braking zone already... D'OH, cut out the first right and left of cotton corners and just went over the hill...

overall it was an awesome weekend to be at mazfest... there were a lot of people out there on saturday and sunday, a lot of experience drivers and some noobs as well (i was semi-intermediate, semi-noob, as i have been to the track before, but had no idea what the ms6 could do... AND i had to get used to 6 spd gearing from 5spd and having power all low & mid as opposed to all up top)... all in all it was fun chasing down and being chased down by other cars both faster cars with worse drivers and slower cars with better drivers... if you haven't taken your car out, you DEFINETELY need to...

as for power... 100 octane did wonders, to the point where my first run i finished off my tank of 91, and the rest of the weekend i was using 100... the power and response just feels so much different...

props to mr. tea for making it out there the 2nd day with his turbo6... and adam, it was good to meet you, you guys loooked like you were flyin' in that advanced group!! maybe sometime i'll make it in that run group too, hehe

there might be a couple action shots to follow, i'll have to look for them...

hope you guys enjoyed the post!

edit: i also want to say the tires held up fairly well, better than i expected... with a little some chunking happening by the end of the 2nd day as was to be expected...

the brakes (i was super hard on them) didn't really fade too much, but by the end of the day, i could tell that i had begun to grind... i guess the pads wore unevenly or something at high heat? i don't know, but when i get on it hard now, the brakes have a slight grinding thing going on... weird, maybe it'll go away, maybe it won't, but i'm not too worried, stock brakes? yeah, they're getting replaced with something better... need a) stainless steel lines; b) upgraded pads; c) possibly slotted rotors?

the suspension was VERY balanced and well tuned, i got oversteer and understeer when i wanted it (kinda, more like where i expected it, haha)... i would go with stiffer sway bars and upgrade the shocks/springs... but i don't know if i want to sacrafice the smooth daily ride yet... ... YET, hehe
