My Intro & FD

To start of, back in the days my parents bought me an FD when they first came out. I was young, stupid, and didn’t know a lot about the car. My parents would always pay for any repairs, or modifications. That was back in the day though. Now, I feel I have matured and have more respect for the FD. With some persuasion (begging) my wife agreed to let me buy another FD.

I have been mainly doing a lot of reading on the forum, and on the Web about the RX-7 to gain more knowledge. I want to thank a lot of you for answering questions I have through other member’s post.

So let us get to my baby. She is a '94 FD, original color was VR. Figured I would let everyone see her. Since, she will SOON be going into the garage to get worked on by my brother-in-law (he’s really busy right now with other things, and finishing his ’69 F100). I have owned her for about three months. Bought her from a dealership in Santa Clara. Previous owner traded her in for an Evo, and did not seem to care of her prior to trade-in. She has some issues that need to be taken care of before she can be road worthy. The main issues are, fpd needs to be replaced, vacuum lines to silicon, front cover seal (currently engine is a reman and leaking oil. I am debating to either fix it or just install another reman), and of course bushings. Everything you see on the car was already installed when I bought her. Paint job, and changing the wing (b/c clear coat is peeling off) is also on the list later down the road. Right now I just want to get her on the road, and do other mods later.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST. I also had to crop a lot of the pics, because they were too large.

Thanks, I need all the luck I can get. After doing some reading on "AllData", to replace the front cover seal is a 15 hr. job.

I was reading it online the other night. That is what they say, but I don't really think it is right, my brother-in-law also doesn't agree.

front cover gasket, or front main seal?

if you can get the hub bolt off with an impact, it's not too bad. but if that bolt fights...

Sick car man. After she runs decently you should start coming to the meets. We post in the west coast section. Oh yeah I wont even complain about that wing...it's not all that bad, BUT that monster tach or w/e they are called....ditch it. Like right now. It kills the clean look of the car. Other than that congrats on your purchase.

Thanks for the compliments guys. That is one of the things on my to do list. I didn't like it at all when I first saw it. IMO it totally looks ricey. Previous owner did a lot of ricey things to her, and now I have to fix them.

The wing looks alright, until you see the clear coat. I did a search on it, and all I could find is something about finger nail polish or something of some sort. If any of you knows how to remove the clear and reaply the clear coat please let me know.

Sorry, I don't think my parents want anymore kids. I think three was enough for them. From the headaches between my lil brother and I my sister being the last one. I think they can't wait to give her the boot, and have some peace and quiet in the house.
