Moving To L.A. in August
Moving To L.A. in August
I'm moving from the land of no emissions(Orlando, FL) to the land of the worst emissions standards(as far as combo of visual and dyno tests).
It appears I might have to sell my baby.
With my mods there is no way in hell I can pass the tests.
I'm posting here so people can offer me some options, because I do want to keep my 7 if its possible.
Does anyone have and thoughts or suggestions?

Or try to keep the old Florida DL. The DMV will physically take it away from you.
I just think you're heading for trouble.
Sell your car there. buy a California car here and avoid all the DMV BS.

not necessarily. one of my friends has arkansas plates on his rx3s, but also has cali plates on his rx7s and he has no problem whatsoever w/ DMV. he lives in glendale, where cops are folks to watch out for on that area; very strict area.
I say just stay in Florida. I hate emmisions restrictions out here in California, and I'm sure they'll eventually drive me away from the state. of course I know that's no help to you.
Yeah, seriously though, whenever you have it inspected by the DMV or smog certs, you'll have to have all the stock parts, or DOT certed parts, on the car. My friend has an intake and exhaust on his s5 N/A, he just swaps 'em back everytime he needs to smog. I guess it all depends on how difficult that would be for you.

Keep my FL plates eh, what do you think of mine?
But,
Returning this car to stock would be impossible, litterally.
89 GXL, full TII swap, welded diff..
Stand-alone, T04..and..no stock parts because I bought the car as is.
I'm not THAT against selling this car before I go because I have another FC in St Louis(GTUs) that needs a motor and going stock on that wouldn't be a big deal, just has a cat-back and straight pipe.

I've never had any luck with it in the past.
There's always ways to get the car registered, whether it is legal or not. If you want to keep the car, keep it. With some work, you will be able to get it registered.

Cool guys, I've decided to sell both my Red TII with the T04 and my Black GTUs/TII with the blown motor, that'll give me some around 9k for both. When I relocate to L.A. I'll be on the lookout for a stock S5 N/A with my only requests of nice paint and A/C. It's either that or a MPG friendly Honda, and I think you all know which one I would prefer. I gotta live cheap until I can get a decent job. I'll be living with two other guys in a 2 bedroom apt(they have to share a room, not me hah). The only downside is we're probably going to have to move into a less that nice place in Hollywood, but within a year I'll probably be able to move out into something nicer. Anyone know someone who works at a Audio-Post Facility or Recording Studio? I'll have a degree in audio and be a certified Pro Tools operator within 2 months, I might as well reach out here because I'm gonna need motivation and a lot of luck to land a job.
