More breaking news!!!!!!!!!
Its crap like this that will have Sevenstock over. You think Bernie doesn't have enough to deal with already?
He's just a normal person like you and me. Imagine what you would have to do to make this work and make everyone happy.
I like Joel's car too, and if there ever was a V8/LS event for converted cars, I would hope he could get center stage representing RX7s all around.
Perhaps you should start arranging that event for next year?

the name should be changed to Rotorystock or something if its gonna be only rotary, sevenstock and mazda made a few non 7 RX cars
nice v8 swap car, but yeah if its against the rules , cant fight it.

This never gets old.
2¢ - "whatever lets just blow it up"
This all could have been solved by clarifying what they were voting on in the first place. Its like Brendon Fraser in Bedazzled: he wants to be rich, she makes him a drug lord; he wants to be irresistible to women, she makes him gay. You say vote on the best rx7, they vote on the best v8.
What can ya do.
John (Hozzman),
I've already apologized for the misunderstanding with the organizers, so please cut me some slack. I've said repeatedly that I didn't have malicious intent in nominating my car. I correctly assumed that sufficient folks would know my car that the fact would come out, however, it just didn't quite reach the level of the organizers soon enough for them to realize the oversight of not specifying rotaries only. At this point you can either take me at my word or not but I'd certainly appreciate the benefit of the doubt if you're a big enough man to swallow your injured pride.
FWIW I won best Classic OR Rx7 at Mazfest. That means I beat out the FDs too which surprised the heck out of me. I don't know why they lumped things that way they did but it is what it is. I put in a ton work, I built everything myself (whereas big $$ typically wins shows), and the judges were smiling and laughing the whole time I was answering questions about the car. You may have preferred that some else won but clearly the judges didn't hold the same values in cars that you do and that's OK. Frankly, having third party judges is the only "fair" way to give awards for "best" cars because otherwise folks vote for a variety of reasons (which obviously happened here).
Casey (rx7what),
It's just not worth it. Let it go, please. Not because some of the arguments going both ways aren't ridiculous (which they are), just do it for me. I've always had a good time at SevenStock and don't want any further drama on my behalf. If there's a fight at SS it'll probably be our last event and that'd just be a waste.

You know. I stepped away from this and was enjoying watching it die a belligerent’s death. But borrowing from the line in the movie, you sucked me back in.
I'm not the one with injured pride. I remain confused why you didn't celebrate your under hood (from my view excellent) work as the centerpiece for your submission rather than going to such lengths to hide the fact. This despite the affirmation by you winning the award at Mazfest a few months ago. Intent? Actions speak much louder than words my friend. This falls in the same story line as the dog eating the homework.
A measure of damage to something that was years in the making resulted from your high jinks. Unfortunately, words in apology doesn't remove that. I'm sad for that. It is what it is. Time moves on.
See you at 7Stock.
PS Courtesy of link provide by RX7what giving timeline status of his build, I'm even more impressed by the extent of retrofit work involved in one of these swaps. From talking to Steve (Brismo) about his swap, I knew the process wasn't cheap. But after reading every page of RX7what's thread, I realize the financial committment to doing one of these swaps can involve SERIOUS $ in addition to long tedious labor. My hats off to the entire V8 crowd for their willingness to accept that committment to realize their goal. Doesn't mean I'll change my signature any time soon.

Second off, you're a retard.
Blonde, blue eyes, 6'2" 220 pounds. I'll be waiting
hozzman - I know it may seem overly simplyfied but my view is someone gave their "word" to let the forum vote on "one" car from each gen. Remember that area is huge and can hold several of each gen. Everyone knows joels car has a LS in it it was even talked about in the nomination thread. For him to say he had no idea would mean he didn't even read his own thread. Then when he saw the people of this forums opinon did not match his own he decided to call the whole thing off. Basically breaking his word, making him a liar. So yes I would consider him a liar no better than a common thief.
I don't really see a problem with having one LS power rx7 in the special area, there was on there last year. I just see them as rx7's and I don't understand the people that can't. Kinda like how I just see people not black people, Asian people and white people.

Frij deserved that win if you look at it this way:
Noone said Rotaries only on the vote thread.
Just look at his damn sig...says My Ls1 swap
If people don't actually look into what they're voting for it's all on them. ZOMG PRETTY CAR I DUNNO WHAT'S DONE TO IT BUT IT'S PRETTY. VOTE VOTE VOTE!!
Same thing with politics...noone ******* researches what the candidate stands for but goes OMG I'm (insert party here) I'll vote for them! OMG First woman president? VOTE!! Omg first black president? VOTE!!!!11
And like I said...people need to get off their high horses...I've had a 13b in my car since day 1, 5 years later...still a 13b. And I've been modifying it the whole time..new power goal is around 450 rwhp, but guess what? If someone were to beat me with a cleaner, faster, better handling fc that had a v8 I wouldn't care..her deserves the win.
However, I don't remember who it was, but I went to a JDM Theory meet in SF years back and a Hinson V8 Fc with an ugly body kit and a bone stock LS1 swap beat a tastefully modded FC turbo with a nice looking kit, excellent fitment, and such...that was bullshit. There was no though or anything in the V8 FC at that meet, just slap a V8 in it, do a shitty job fitting the kit, spray it, TEH WIN
So I assume that you did not ready the whole thread. If you have read the thread, you would have seen that he purposly did not post his sig and a picture of his engine bay. Anyways its over and let it die !!!!!!!

Smogsux, on subject to the center of all this, your comments boil down to:
- Noone said Rotaries only on the vote thread.
- Just look at his damn sig...says My Ls1 swap
What you clearly don't know is that Frijolee eliminated his signature in his entry.
He made every effort to hide the fact he was running a LS1, not make it a centerpiece for his entry.
That is the problem, not the fact he submitted the entry. Why do you think he did that? Kind of suggests he knew the intent for this competition was that it was for Wankle cars, doesn't it.
Want to know the worst of this all? He was premeditated dishonest to his own V8 brothers in making them think his entry was indeed copacetic. To rally votes for his subversive cause, he started a thread on the V8RX7 forum making the opening statement:
"I talked my way into special vehicle consideration for Seven Stock 12. It's an all rotary event that goes down at Mazda corporate headquarters here in SoCal so them even letting me in the voting is a pretty cool."
http://www.v8rx7forum.com/v8-rx7-non...-frijolee.html
If there was anything clear in the organizers reaction to when his V8 situation came out, it was that he certainly HAD NOT talked to any of the organizers about his car, much less talked his way into special vehicle consideration. Special message to Frijolee FROM the organizers were:
"Frijolee, we want to say that you posting a pic of your engine, and specs, AFTER THE FACT was a bit deceitful, and not so cool."
That being a fact, kind of presents that this was all about him and nothing about championing the V8RX7 cause. Doesn't it?
RX7what voiced a clear distaste for people who lie. I do too. The lie in the center of all this has obviously stirred up both sides. I'm just trying to make it clear to anyone that reads that the untruth that stirred up this debate had absoloutley nothing to do with Bernie. That anyone pissed off about all this, Wankle or V8 fan, know where that attention belongs. I don't want the 7Stock organizers to think this is a V8RX7 community action because it's not really. I just don't want the level of good will that has built up between the two sides over the years to unwind in any amount.
With that fact, does he still deserve the win? Does he even deserve support much less sympathy? That's up to every individual to decide for themselves. I just hope they decide on true facts. Not on he said, she said.

All of the threads were NOT closed because of "rx7what". He is telling the truth!
If you must know the full reason/s, please CLICK HERE... I think someone posted this too.... but in that explanation is the fact that there were NO candidates in the OLD SCHOOL and Non-OEM ROTARY categories, and only two in the FIRST GEN class. Also the fact that I got PM's from guys who were upset because they did NOT know there was a SS voting string and they wanted us to give everyone a fair shot on the day-of, instead of excluding them. And yes, also because of the FC drama....
So our cool
FUN idea of internet forum voting turned into
quick!!!
I'm not sure how I aggrieved you in that string or lied to you, but if you felt insulted, my apologies to you, and I will give you respect and consideration here in this string, since I do not think I know you, or you me. No one else resorted to calling me a liar or a thief there.... but anyway, doesn't matter, I'm comfortable with my reputation in the RE community, so it's cool.
I'm not sure who all of the "EVERYONES" that freaked out on me are... if I recall there were a few folks who felt they needed to voice an opinion on the misunderstanding, and for my part, I've already PM'd and actually spoken to most of the folks who where actually involved in the voting strings, and they have been more than gracious and understanding about the situation, especially FRIJOLEE.. and EDBLTX7 thanks bros!

PEACE!!

-Bern
Ps. with this I close this deal out on my part! We have a lot to do before Saturday!!! I hope all show-up smiling and happy
on Saturday. "rx7what" here's hoping you get your ride done in time to make it!! __
V8 swaps in RX's is not my cup of tea, but if you like it then that's all that matters.
However, I don't see how it can still be called an RX7. I thought that " Rx"- stands for rotary powered, is it not?
One of the most unique parts of the RX7 or any RX car is that it is powered by a rotary engine. This sets it apart from any other car in the world. When you rip out this engine and put another type of engine in the car it is no longer an RX7 or RX2,3,4,5,8, IMO.
Why not call it an LS-7, that sounds cool to me.
