Moding your FD in California

I live in northern California, in a town called Redding. It is three hours north of Sacramento. I want to modify my FD, single turbo, port it, etc. and still be able to drive it on the street but I don't want to have to deal with "smog" every 2 years.

Anyone have any suggestions? Short of having someone just "pass it" every 2 years. Are there ANY counties in CA that you only have to smog once? How hard is the Oregon thing? Any input is very appreciated.

what i used to do (dont know if this still works) but i would get a po box in a town with less than 500 people (no smog) you used to not have to smog your car if you lived waaay out in the bonnies ( i live in a pretty rural area and they still use the old tailpipe smog test not the dyno one) or just find a "smog hook up" (aka wackyracer) and dont get pulled over

the best mod you can do to your FD is registering it out of state.

if you registered it in Oregon you wouldn't have to smog it at all (except in Portland), i should know, i live there but i'm in Cali for school. 2 problems with reg in Oregon though

1. you'd have to get a Oregon licence which means voiding your cali or having to take the tests over again and telling them you lost or already threw it away. then you'd need a Oregon address to send your licence to because now they send them in the mail 2 weeks later, gay.

2. if a cop catches you they'll bitch you out for not having it registered in cali and may or may not give you a ticket (spoken from first hand experiance)
