I didn't do anything man. I just set my toolbox down and let the pros go to work. Like I was telling Wan, it was like surgery, you have the doctor doing the "real" work, and his disciples handing him tools (doctor would get a scalpel, mechanic would get a wrench) Too bad we didn't get to run together on the track. Next time

The yellow FD that cought fire was Nelson Siverio's from RRR. He said it was a$50 fitting that broke. He said it was top quality equipment and it just broke. The oil actually cought fire. I started a pic thread in west section with a couple angles. His strut bar actually melted too.

I had a terrible/awesome day. I ruined my Keizer wheels, and the staff on the autox was terrible. I stopped running because I was sick of the course workers walking right in front of my speeding car. No sense of urgency fixing cones and quite possibly the most unsafe I've ever felt on an autoX. Once I went into the Mazfest area I had a better day.

I guess that should be "RR" now?

Just kidding, of course. Stuff breaks; that's just part of cars.

FC3S91 - What's up with the ECU?

Sucks about Nelson's bad fortune. Just goes to show you can go to the nth degree in preparation, but Murphy's law is ever present.

Anyone on this forum win any awards?

Hey John,
I fried my ecu while I was on the banks. I was on my 4th run in the first session and the car shut down at 160 mph. Could not restart it so I was towed in. I'll know monday if the pfc is fixable.
Thanks Robert

I don't think anyone here entered the car show. There were so many non-mazdas there for the track it honestly seems like 2 different events all together. An MOCC car show, a regular Speedventure track event. Oh yes and the Miata time challenge.

My heart sank when I saw your car being towed in. Best of luck getting your car running again.

Agree with Meiogirl here... we APPRECIATE ALL of you who signed-up and participated, but were disappointed at the # of Mazda track participants. SVs had to step-in and fill all of the empty Mazda spots for the event, and as Meiogirl says... it broke up the vibe and feel of the overall MAZDA event. We may also not get much love or props from track-promoters for the next one, due to the low number of Mazda track sign-ups and runners. It is a bit disheartening to that there were not more sign-ups; but all in all it was a good event. I just hope that if the team decides to "volunteer" again and set-up another Mazda event, more people come out and take advantage... or that may be it for events like MazFest!

Again, thanks to all those that participated and made the event rock!

hey mdpalmer, i know exactly how you felt with your cat on the car. Mine broke and got clogged after the 2nd lap of the day! My max speed was about 80mph. We took it off and tried to punch it out, but only managed to punch out about 80% of it. The rest of the day I was running 10mph slower than my usual speeds and it was hard even passing a miata when they would point me by. Thank you Rez for helping me with the cat!

I normally take the bank at 126mph and was limited to about 116mph this time around.

My fastest time on that course was 2:08.2 the last event with Redline Time Attack, and this time was 2.15.5 for Mazfest!

Thanks. Were they smoking that bad?

I tested them on the way home and they stopped better than on the track.

Saturday was weird.
-Spun out for the first time at a track event. Blaming my passenger/photographer for jinxing me.
-Battery terminal problem, which took me out of one session
-Slight heating issue
-and smoking passenger side brake. I also blamed my passenger/photographer for this one and I got pushed on the shoulder.

I only have one video up at the moment. I was testing out my new camera and unfortunately the lens sits taller on this one than on my old camera and the rearview mirror was in the way. I would have removed the mirror but I forgot to.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez01SH843MA

This clip is of the very first Purple session. I'm chasing Alex Rodriguez in his fast FD and he lets me by on the roval. I caught up to Henry in his FC and then I spun due to brake fade. My spin out is Henry's fault for letting me by!!! I got some good sideways action from both of you guys It would have looked cooler had my mirror not been in the way.

I'll try to get more videos up but my computer has a heart attack when I edit HD videos
