I feel for you there. My TOTAL experience came from a having a lowered pick up truck back in the day. Just like you cops would actually bust a u-turn, follow me, pull me over, and give me ****. Soon enough I got wise on what was legal and what wasn't. I also learned what and how to communicate with them. I've been hancuffed, threatened about being arrested, and about getting my car impounded. But they always let me go because they could not keep me since I did nothing wrong and I don't have a record. Back in the day I didn't agree to a searches not because I had something to hide but because of the principle of the thing.

This is not directed at you GoRacer more of a general statement:
Don't get me wrong I learned very quickly on NOT to argue (that's how I ended up in handcuffs) but to voice my opinions, concerns, and thus inquire about his or her intent on why they pulled me over. Basically when they asked/ordered to do a search I inquired why they felt to do that. The typical answer was "we got a report of a drive by and the vehicle matches your car". My answer would typically be "there are thousands of trucks that match mine out on he road, what makes you think it's me?". "Well we just have to make sure" me: "I still don't understand, I feel like I'm being targeted and honestly I have a real problem with that. What is it about me that you feel that I could be capable of a drive-by? I mean I haven't commited any crimes. You can check to see if I have a record can't you?" With that I gave the cops and out and was I always was let go.

Cops aren't stupid. All of the questions they ask you they are evaluating you and at the same time creating a case against you. If you come off as an *******, dumbass, jerk. You are gonna get it. But if you are polite, firm and thus letting the officer know that you aren't stupid nor ignorant and at the same timel stablishing that he/she is in control, it can only ensure you the best outcome whatever it that may be.

That's exactly my point. The gauges are legal hence it does not give probable cause that the individual would break the law.

I'm pretty sure it was the A/F ratio gauge that tipped him off.

BTW I do not have a 12in tach, or any tach besides the one that mazda put in my car. It does not look ricey, and its not loud at all.

No. What I did catch was a know-nothing lame-*** that only one year ago was popping pimples off his face at his mom's house; who tried to get in a conversation that he knows absolutely nothing about.

Is this the intellect that CSU accepts?

Too bad it will still take ya some semesters to get there....
I clearly stated a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering that entails it all. But after seeing your other threads I don't expect you to figure that out for yourself. To make it easier for you: I did attend a 4 year ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY, yes I've been accepted to grad school and taken courses, yes I actually work in my field, and yes alan YOU are far below my level of education and status in society.

It makes sense. It keeps officers from being sued for every little thing.

Honestly, agree with that. The good officers can't be afraid of performing their job because they might get sued later down the road. It's just how it goes abusive cops are protected as well. Just like criminals end up being protected by the same laws that protect honest citizens. I recognize that I fall into that category myself with the whole "I don't have to open my hood" because there are laws that protect me against an illegal search.

I have one friend that has rigged his hood latch to pop and come out so when the officer pulls it it makes a pop sound and he ends up holding hood handle with a peice of freyed cable. He has never had to try it yet, obviously it would only work once on the same cop.

The actual hood latch cable runs to a solenoid under the fender where it gets energized to open the hood.

On my 94 I had Hood Locks, and I carried a key in my pocket, but never on my keychain, so if he asked to pop I could "lie" and tell him I left the key at home... that's what kept theives at the junkyard from stealing anything from under the hood from me... as it was they tried to steal the Gauge Pod....
