Looking for someone to part out a car near I.E.
Damn. Why in the hell would you part out such a quick car? 6-8 hours of work and it would be back where it was at... Hah. Giving up because of a cracked iron... The amount of hours that were put into that car, and it gets the crusher. Sad.....
I've been bugging Dave for two weeks now about a rebuild but as of now I have no idea when he'll be free, not even a guestimate. If I could at least have an estimate then it would be set aside for the rebuild. But now I need to recoup some of my money and use it towards an LS1 FD. I drove the car a whopping 160 miles since I've owned it before the engine took a dump, and its been sitting in my driveway collecting dust ever since. Like I said, I wanted to rebuild it and get it on the road but time doesn't allow for that. The car is going to be towed to Lil Red's shop later today and parted out.

GRRRRR... i said the first part of april when the car was here, i said the first part of april a few weeks ago, i said it last week when you asked, guess what....it hasn't changed!
hav fris pull the motor and reinstall it. if he drops me off the motor, i can have it rebuilt in a few days (after parts get in). i just can't have the whole car here yet because that rx8 is monopolising the rape shack.

Haha. Hey Dave, want to get my FC running? Hahahaha.
It's been a while since I've seen the rape shack. Let me know if I can give ya a hand sunday.

i'll probably come out there. i gotta pick up some junk from wacky for an old school motor i'm building anyway.
if you get off your *** and do the exhaust, we can make it fire up tomorrow or sunday.

You know, its probably better this way. People who buy modded cars will never respect them the way the original owner did. The FC had a great run, and I had a lot of fun building it.
Only thing that I don't like, is that the prices he's listing for some of the parts, is what I paid RETAIL for them...that's a little sneaky but to each his own I guess.

I've got half of the v-mount kit in...the 2 pass radiator is bolted down, but I need to relocate my battery to get the intercooler in. Then I might need some pipe for the intercooler hot side and I'm good to go.
I'm yanking the Apex boost controller and throwing it in the Lexus, and running a Perrin EBC solenoid with the Haltech.

I'm a reasonable guy, but don't get mad at me for trying to recoup some costs. I only drove the car about six times before it blew so I'm taking a huge loss no matter what. Palumbo and you had great fun driving the car, getting on the boost (I'm not saying you abused it!) and seeing what it could do. I bought it, drove it around my neighborhood a couple times, and then the engine blew while I was boosting to merge on the freeway (maybe 5-6k rpms). I'm not some kid that turns up the boost on a high hp car and blows the engine the next day after he gets it. The FC had a great run for its previous owners. But unfortunately for me, I have to deal with the headache that can come with a tuned rotary but did not get a chance to experience what makes them so fun to own and drive.
Good luck with recouping your costs. I was out $10K when I traded it for the FD I drive now. Now it will no longer be the great machine it once was. But then again, the moment I traded it with John, I realized this - that's not your doing and I understand that. I had just hoped that the $2500 piece-of-**** FC I transformed into what you've seen, would have lived on a little longer than it did.
so I'm taking a huge loss no matter what.
FYI, every race car you build will make your wallet take a loss. Nobody feels bad for you. It's expected to spend money for performance. You're kidding yourself if you thought otherwise. You don't make any sense to part out a perfectly well prepped FC that was just purchased.
PMed you about the coilovers. Good luck with parting her out.

I'm not looking for pity, nor am I pointing any fingers or getting angry at anyone; I am merely explaining my situation.
"so I'm taking a huge loss no matter what."
No one works for free. $800 for labor to rebuild the engine, another couple hundred for parts, and then roughly $900 to have someone pull the engine and put it back. I understand that this is still a bargain, but after experiencing engine failure within such a short ownership period I would like to explore other powerplant options. A car is a depreciating liability - you almost never get back what you put in. I didn't buy it to flip it around for money, I bought it because I wanted a fast car that was already built up.
I didn't build the car. I just bought it, paid cash and drove it a couple of times before it blew. Its just a car, it can be replaced and its not the end of the world if it gets parted out. I'm sure it means much more to Mazpower since he didn't just throw money at it...he actually put time and effort into building it up, but like I said, I'm moving on to something different.

Hah. You have got to be kidding yourself JJ. You have bought several cars and flipped them back up for sale in no time at all. $900 is NOTHING when dealing with a 12 second car. You don't make sense when you say, "Nobody works for free." If you want a toy, you gotta pay to play.
Go buy yourself a crotch rocket if you want a 11 second toy that won't break.
The amount of time you put into parting it, the car would be up and running again.
I don't care what you do with the car. I just think it is STUPID to part it.
Happy parting!

you had the chance to get it rebuilt and rollin' again for no money out of pocket, except for parts.
seriously man, you've got one of the nicest fc's on the block. if you want it more reliable, drop the bp and i can streetport a motor for you. i can find front and rear irons somewhere. it's a great car-certainly worth keeping.

Stop crying and buy a moped.

Haha, what are you talking about wackypooper. Let me put this as plainly as I can: I want to sell the car, that is why I parted it out. A t2 with a blown engine isn't worth much. It makes good economical sense to part out the car rather than to sell it as-is. If you are a diehard rotary enthusiast....that is he worst decision you can make. If you are looking at it from a purely rational and economic viewpoint, parting out makes sense. There is a reason why the for sale section is littered with part out threads...IT WORKS!
I am buying a bike, because no car that runs 11 seconds is going to be that reliable unless it is completely stock from the factory. An 11 second stock car requires lots of $$$. I am not a mechanic and a highly modded rotary is not for me, because what I want is a car that is fast and will not give me many problems. This is an impossible goal with a rotary if you are not willing to pony up the $$$. It took a while for me to realize this but now I truly appreciate the nature of the beast. I am cutting my losses and moving on. End of story. Comprende?

my fd would run an 11 if i ever took it to the track and i drive that thing 500+ miles a week. you've already got all the ingredients, just need to rebuild the motor.
Before John got that car, I could count on it to get me anywhere. I daily drove it, my girlfriend of the time used that car to get to work for over a month. I took it to a Drift Day, autocross, and open track day at the Streets of Willow...all in a 8 month period. It got to the point where I'd leave my tools and laptop at home instead of worrying about bringing them with me...the car never gave me any problems.
I would say with confidence that if the motor was fixed, that car would take care of you. But its too late for that now.
J J, I will ask one thing of you. Could you please keep the Orion overflow can so at some point in the near future I could get it from you? You're not gonna get anything for it, and my friend drank that while stationed in Okinawa and brought it back here...it has some sentimental value and I never grabbed it when John got the car. It would mean a lot to me, and considering the circumstances I think I'm not asking too much.

I'm sorry but I am parting out EVERYTHING. That includes the Orion overflow. I hope you understand that I need to get back as much money as possible. It is still a usale part, and whenever I popped the hood I always had people mentioning how neat it looked. $10
Just kidding. I have not sold it or gotten rid of it. I'll get it from the shop the next time I drop by and ship it to you free of charge.
