Got Rice?

Diffrent looking and it has a cool license plate. The wing is a little extreme.

That's my friend Tom's car. It isn't "utter fail" he's a BIG guy and needed that top done for extra headroom. It's also a track/street car. It sees road course events almost every other weekend. So the aero pieces and the wing are actually functional in this case and the stickers on the car are from his sponsors.

The corvette doesn't need a wing. If it did, chevy would offer it. The design of the corvette lets the air go right off it. "The coke bottle design".

Lingenfelter's TT car isn't built for road racing (if we're thinking of the same one)

Just look at the real race Vettes - C5-R/C6-R, they have wings, for a reason.

And the aero and wing have helped knock down his lap times a few seconds...

You know, i was looking at it and I said well it looks weird but also functional.

i thought the bubble top was a cooling duct

The wing is APR...obviously good stuff but its aluminum and most of us jump to the "ricer" conclusion but it looks functional.

The car is also way low for other obvious reasons.

the stickers also pointed towards track car esp. the one of the driver's name or co.

CF canards also will tell a true driver that its built for functionality not to win car shows.

maybe its not the hottest corvette on the road but hey at least he takes it to the track unlike some...

it cannot be functional, it is to narrow, as for the c5-6r's, they use a way better design
case in point

see how they dont use "APC" double deckers. that **** is rice, plain and simple

Well, it seems you're an aerodynamicist, so please explain how this narrow design is just plain not functional. Because he's already proven that these aero pieces have helped with his lap times, but you seem to know something he doesn't. And this is no "APC" double decker, it's an APR wing.

He was probably on the way to an auto-x. Speeds in an auto-x are low compared to road courses, and thus require spoilers with large surface areas to generate as much downforce at low velocities. I doubt any of us could best him at an auto-x. FWIW, I've seen larger spoilers.

are we getting mad anjew?
as for the narrowness, he is putting more downforce than he would with a correct width spoiler. which is fine if he is drag racing, but since it is a road car, the wider wing would put the force down on the wheels when needed. ie, in turns, sweeps, and what not.
dont u think all the "Race" vettes would have the same wing as your friend if it truly helped? take the wing off, and drive the same way
see ehat happens.
there is no way adding downforce helped lap times unless he breaks the rear end loose, which would cause the loss of time

Functionality aside, and with all due apologies to your friend, I'm afraid that the result is still hideous. I actually spewed diet coke, when I saw it.

If he needed that much headroom, he should have bought a different car.

It's like the 350-lb chick in the spandex pants & 7-inch heels. It's just not meant to be, and the rest of us shouldn't have to suffer the scarring of our psyches because of her delusions.

IMO, of course.

I dont think APR would design a wing with no functionality....

Suppose he's coming around a corner (streets of willow for example, last turn going counter CW) and he's headed for that long straight...I think this wing would help plenty as he will be preparing to come to a sudden halt and rip into the next left hand corner over the skid pad...

Why do drifters put wings on their cars? Same reason: stability. A car on a road coarse would require the same stability. Even a stock wing on a FC has its purpose.

oh god please tell me you arent really that naive/stupid.......apr will make anything you give them money for. they make some of the most non functional part on the market.

ahahahah as for drifters....nvmd this is a pointless conversation.
